I was having a debate with Kendall about the importance of our Lge Cup win - which I think is massive - indeed decade-transforming

And I want to say with that win and the fact that we have outperformed Boro Rovers & Everton in the lge (our closest rivals probably - given overall performances this decade) that this trophy has set us on course to be the 5th best club in England this decade - along with the trophy tightening our grip on 5th in the overall trophies list

PS villa may edge ahead 5-4 in the lge this season - but the force of our major trophy against their zilch overpowers them too :)

winning the league cup was a great achievement, and is our stepping stone for greater things in the coming seasons.

I thank the players, but mainly the mastermind behind this Ramos...

Hi Kendall - sorry if it came across like that - wasn't intended - but what I'm saying is just how important the victory is, given our good consistency in the league this decade - but that wasn't enough to lift us past the Rovers & Boros this decade - this does

Hmm I guess I just have the feeling that teams can randomly win cups, even if they aren't that good (Rovers, Boro as mentioned), you only have to look at the FA Cup semis this year...

But to perform well in the league you have to be a quality team and that's why in the grand scheme of things, i think we've underachieved and even taken a step back.

fair point Kendall - but we've put a good shift in the league this decade - but winning a Cup on top, that's what makes the difference for me

If at the start of the season if some one had said 'You can finish 11th, but qualify for the UEFA cup through winning carling cup....OR......Finish 5th in the league and get knocked out of carling cup before the final but still qualify through the 5th placed finish' what would people have taken?

I would take Winning the cup option.

Maybe stating obvious but hey....................
