Iran pulled it off (in Korea) and had Uzbekistan scored two goals in the first 60 minutes to add to their five in the last 30 then it would truly have been amazing (Korea would then have been in the play-offs). Kinda amazing anyway seeing as Uzbekistan managed just 6 goals in the previous seven games!

Uzbekistan v Oman in the Asian play-offs as expected, unless there's another big surprise and Jordan beat Oman! Who knows the way things are going tonight.

Uzbekistan must be favourites in the play-off but the winner has to play South Americas 5th place in another play-off, don't they? Would be amazed if either got past that.

Lots of people here are going to be upset... they just renewed Paul Le Guen's contract, too.

I said it earlier in this thread but I really wish they would teach the players how to play, not just how to run a lot. I have told the football association this, too. Hopefully they will listen, a buddy has just taken over as head of marketing there and I play football with him - he should know I'm serious.

So, the Aussies didn't need their dramatic late winner in the end. A night of surprises. Uzbekistan should beat Jordan - especially if they play like they did in the last thirty minutes.

It is quite amazing how much Dempsey's technical ability and awareness has improved in international play (never watched him at Fulham). Having heard interviews where he has spoke of AVB overviewing his play with him, I believe all credit is to Andre.
