Earth-shattering news right there. More coming through..... Zeki Fryers may not join Tottenham on their preseason tour #THFC#MUFC
The key there is the word Stevenage, not Man City, Man Utd, West Ham, Everton etc.
So what was AVB doing at the Brazil team's hotel........
Silly Season @SillySeason
Porto defender, Danilo: "I did not like seeing Villas-Boas at the national team’s hotel, this isn’t a market. It’s a workplace."

So we can assume Danilo is pissed off that AVB didn't come and have a chat with him about a move, then?
The key there is the word Stevenage, not Man City, Man Utd, West Ham, Everton etc. Carroll looked good in that game as well, Kane worryingly missed a couple of sitters which he seems to do to regularly.
He may well succeed and I hope he does. Potentially good impact sub you mean, we can't say he is because he hasn't done it yet.
Defensively he looked dodgy in the Europa League, I appreciate he was playing out of position but it at these times when a manager can assess a player and say whether he is good enough or not. England played Darren Bent on the right and to me clearly showed with his touch and movement that he was out of his depth, he didn't have a good enough footballing brain. When he has played in the middle he has missed a hatfull of easy chances. To me Townsend looks to much of a one trick pony which for a decent defender is easy to defend against.
I would send him on loan to a Premier league club, along with Rose to have a season developing by playing each week. He can then return to us when we will know if he is good enough or not and his value will have increased.
Arsenal do it with the likes of Wilshire and Ramsey, Chelsea and Sturridge spring to mind, Caulker, Naughton. That's the low risk way to go.
Well surely the interesting thing about this quote/tweet is the suggestion that AVB was there for more than just seeing Sandro! Why else say it?

Because one of the scummy rags over here bunged him a few quid to make the statement, thus creating 'news' for them to put in their pathetic fiction filled bollockfests??

I believe he wrote it on his Facebook wall.
Alternatively he could bomb at one of these places to the detriment of his top flight career. Interesting for development, but all players require different programmes I guess. Conversely Kane was well thought of at Millwall, although I fail to see why tbh, and especially after the other night, whilst Livermore (I'm told) never really shone at any of the clubs he was at.
Personally I've never really thought Townsend would make it at Spurs, especially as he seems to have only 20 minutes of effectiveness in his game before he is knackered, but I was hoping that was down to being played as a very attacking full back. I do think he has stamina issues that do not suit his natural game.
You obviously need to go to the right place for your development - Townsend obviously didn't at Leeds and then was battling for a position at Birmingham with that other young (quite good) left winger. Meanwhile Falque goes to Southampton and doesn't get any type of game (mind you I might see why there too ).
Rose well who knows? Danny wants to leave according to reports if he is not playing regularly. I'm hoping for his sake (and ours) he has a wonderful Olympics and then we can shift him for £3.5m. Be best for all.
Time will tell on them all.
Well he can only play well against whoever the opponent is mate. How many different players were used against Stevenage? How many looked as good, or played as well as Townsend did? I'm not having a go at you, it just grinds my bones when people say "well it was only against such & such". Lennon, Bentley, Pienaar, Livermore, all played in the first half, and nothing happened. On comes Townsend & traps are sprung, and the team looks more threatening. I've seen Bentley perform against Arseanal, I've seen Lennon terrorise every team in the PL, I've seen Livermore stand alongside Sandro & dominate Scholes & Carrick etc etc, but what did they do whilst they were 'only playing Stevenage'??
Sorry if you think I'm being out of order.
No not at all, we all see things in a different light, that's healthy. Some people are risk takers, some prefer the low risk approach.
Pre-season games are for fitness and getting used to a system for both sides, the Stevenage players aren't fit yet. To me a gamble on Townsend wastes one place in a 25 man squad. The Caulker approach just makes a lot more to me.
