Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with plenty of names in the summer transfer window so far but few have been more heavily linked than Everton's Ross Barkley and Sporting Lisbon's Adrien Silva.

My assumption is that Barkley to Spurs is all but a done deal and Everton are spending his and the Lukaku cash before they officially leave.

Yeah, everything about the situation tells me Barkley is coming. He's not signed a new contract and Everton have signed replacements, they daren't risk losing him for nothing - this is classic Levy. No other club is heavily linked suggesting it's just for us to agree a fee and closer we get to the end of the window the stronger Levy's hand should be. Means we won't get a pre-season out of him.

There are 2 arguments against that though
1. Everton have a very rich owner these days.
2. They are going to sell Lukaku which will easily cover their current outlay.

I'm not saying it won't happen and I agree it's classic Levy but this is by no means a guarantee. If they hold firm on a valuation which we consider too high for a player in the last 12 months of his contract, it won't happen.
And Everton may let him sit on the bench for a season.

Could be a very late deal; I can see August 31st - Sigurdsson going to Everton and Barkley joining us. Which, bearing in mind we're not desperate for new signings, might not actually be a bad thing. I'd rather sign him late for the right fee than rush and pay over the odds.

And by the way I'm not saying I'd rather have Barkley over Sigurdsson before I get replies....!
