not sure if it has been posted but thought this was funny
The look of a man who comes to the realisation that he's not good enough to play in a defence that's just shipped 5 goals against Tim Sherwood's Tottenham...

The whole record thing bugs me. IMO, you have to look at the record in all competitions(which is quite poor) and you also need to look at the overall performances of the team. When you look at the performances of the team, you see a string of horrible performances with a few minutes of brilliance from a few players when goals are scored. The only good performances we have put in have been against Stoke, Newcastle and Sunderland. That's not saying much. The fact we have gotten 10 or so wins under Sherwood points to how good of a squad we have. If we had a decent coach, things would be looking alot better than they are. All you have to do is take a look at Everton. We clearly have a better squad than them yet they will likely finish ahead of us and might even take 4th. Why do you think that is? They have a great manager, thats why.Even though I defend Sherwood against bile on here, I wouldn't say I've come to a decision on how good he is. I've much preferred the second half of this season compared to the first half, and we've scored way more goals because I think the manager has directly influenced how we play so that we're much more attacking. So I don't think he's done enough to be sacked, which is different to saying he's good after a 5-1. His record in the PL since he took over isn't bad at all. But he's also overseen games like Liverpool away, which was truly awful.
And I think the bile-filled Sherwood hatred dominates the tim-out agenda, not any convincing argument that he is doing a poor job motivating and setting up the team. I hear a lot of he's crap and there are many reasons and posts about it, but I rarely see those reasons and posts.
I wouldn't say great yet, but certainly good. Great may come in the future though. The whole record thing bugs me. Nope but then Rodgers isn't Sherwood is he? We have been humiliated in games against some of the top four this season. Sherwood needs time to learn his trade but he needs to do that somewhere else, this isn't the place for him. We can't afford to carry passengers. He needs to go before he does any further damage. When was the last time we "tonked" a second rate team? Wigan at home?
Damage is always done before progress is made, or should Liverpool have fired Rogers for finishing seventh last season?
Were you rooting and tooting for a defeat last night because "the damage had already been done'?
Oh you really do get defensive when you get it wrong don't you.
Firstly Woodgate was one more than you thought of (and you have superior knowledge?)
Selling Berbatov and Keane was a major factor in our poor start to the 2008-9 season and Ramos departure.
Me...My great grandfather Henry Foxcroft was one of Jimmy Dimmocks best mates (you'll probably need to look him up). My Grandad Walter Lagdon was friends with many of the 50's team many of whom came to his wedding reception, he also knew Bobby Smith well. My Grandad , Father Paul and Uncle Mike knew many of the players 70's/80's and were responsible for looking after the players in 1981 and 1982 before and during the open top bus parade from Edmonton Town hall to Tottenham.
PS Still waiting for my apology about the 'Capoue comment' you credited me with but I didn't make, still time to man up
On the off chance that Levy does decide to keep him, then he should be given a longer contract, not one that screams caretaker.

Would be an interesting day though.I'm not sure the SC servers could handle that.
I was thinking exactly this. It really does give you an insight into the fickleness of our fans.
I didn't read many positive comments from these people when we were getting our ass handed to us on a plate by Liverpool a few weeks back.

Eh? So what you are saying is because we have been humiliated in the past, no one should complain when we get thrashed? Were we not 3-0 up at half time at home to Man Ure one season and lost 3-5.
Plllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssseeeeeeeeeeee find something new. Just once.

I'd even say that Martinez is better than Sherwood, but again, that's not enough to justify sacking Sherwood.
I disagree and think you're applying a standard to Sherwood that is unrealistic and one you probably didn't apply to his predecessor. For example, the two games against Southampton were extremely enjoyable. Two 3-2s, lots of end-to-end football, fantastic ebb and flow, two decent teams doing good entertaining work. And we bettered them twice, including a 2-goal-down come back at home.
If you didn't enjoy those games and didn't think we played well, then it's not clear that footy is the hobby for you. If you think we should be playing with complete dominance every game (like the ones you listed), then you're applying an unrealistic standard.
Everton have looked good and their manager has done a grand job - the emergence of direct attacking threats like Barkley has been a joy to watch in many games. But they've still been beaten, even tonked, at critical junctures in the season. And for all the praise, and the universally accepted 'brilliant' season they're having, they're not that far ahead of us (having a universally accepted 'terrible' season).

This is getting ridiculous now - one win against THE bottom club at home, a case of beer and free pizza and all of a sudden everybody wants Sherwood to stay next season! Look, I like the guy too - but as a manager and spokesman he's just not cutting it!
That...and sunderland were in sunday league mode.My own view on the Sunderland performance is that the news of Sherwood's impending departure gave the players a boost. They looked so much more confident and relaxed. If I was working for a boss that I either didn't like or didn't rate, and I found out that they were leaving in a couple of months, my work-rate and general demeanour would probably improve too.
