A week which started with Harry Redknapp missing the trip to Anfield will finish with the Tottenham manager being the centre of attention as Newcastle travel to White Hart Lane for a crucial Premier League encounter.
Not able to take his place in the dugout against Liverpool due to a court case that ended on Wednesday with Redknapp being cleared of all tax evasion charges, the 64-year-old is now the hot favourite to become England boss following Fabio Capello's resignation.
It would be a wrench for Redknapp to leave Spurs, having transformed the club's fortunes during his three-and-a-half seasons at the club and he admitted the reception he was given by fans last week against Wigan was an especially moving moment.
The manager is likely to receive a hero's welcome again on Saturday evening but his main focus will be on trying to return to winning ways to keep Tottenham in the title race.
A goalless draw on Merseyside was considered a point gained with so many important figures absent, including Redknapp, and Spurs will now hope to put on more of a show against the Magpies and also avenge a late fightback in a 2-2 draw at St James' Park.
The likes of Younes Kaboul, Aaron Lennon, Rafael van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe all missed the clash with Liverpool as Tottenham's resources were stretched to the limit.
Redknapp will assess the fitness of all those players ahead of kick-off but it would be difficult to leave out Michael Dawson following a strong showing in the heart of defence alongside Ledley King.
William Gallas (calf) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are longer-term absentees.
Stability
Alan Pardew was another man in the frame to replace Capello following his fine work with Newcastle this season, but he quickly ruled himself out of the running.
Pardew's declaration of commitment was a further sign of the stability that he has brought to the Magpies, who have continued to defy the odds to maintain a challenge for European qualification.
A 2-1 victory over Aston Villa last weekend propelled Newcastle to fifth in the standings, just a point adrift of the UEFA Champions League places, and the future looks bright with an in-form Senegalese strike duo.
Papiss Cisse is now likely to start alongside compatriot Demba Ba for the first time after coming off the bench to score a stunning winner against Villa.
Pardew will, however, be without striker Leon Best and utility man Ryan Taylor for the visit to the capital.
Best could miss the rest of the season with the medial ligament injury he suffered against Aston Villa, while the ankle problem Taylor sustained in the same game is less serious, but will keep him out at White Hart Lane.
Yohan Cabaye completes his three-match ban, Cheick Tiote is still on Africa Cup of Nations duty while defender Steven Taylor (Achilles) and midfielders Sylvain Marveaux (groin) and Sammy Ameobi (knee) continue their respective recoveries.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will return to the dugout, having missed Monday's game at Liverpool after his flight from London was cancelled.
Rafael van der Vaart, Younes Kaboul and Jermain Defoe are injury doubts.
Newcastle are without Ryan Taylor, who was stretchered off against Aston Villa with a badly swollen ankle, while Yohan Cabaye completes a three-game ban.
Leon Best is out for six weeks with medial ligament damage, so Papiss Cisse is set for his first start.
Can I look into my crystal ball here and ask a cheeky question: will Alan Pardew be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur? The 'Harry Redknapp for England' bandwagon is going to take some stopping now and everything he has said over the last couple of years suggests that Redknapp will push for an amicable way out of White Hart Lane to take the England job once the season is over.
England have only one friendly arranged between now and the end of the Premier League season, and Stuart Pearce is filling the gap for that game against the Dutch. Redknapp could be named as successor whilst continuing at Spurs for now, knowing that he can move seamlessly from one job to the other in time for the friendly in Norway on 26 May, followed by the European Championship.
So where would that leave Spurs? There would certainly be a scramble across Europe to take over such a squad but, like the FA, I feel they have had their fill of foreign managers. Christian Gross, Jacques Santini and Juande Ramos were all derided; Martin Jol was popular but not quite successful enough.
No, I am pretty sure the next Tottenham manager will be British. He will need to possess a successful CV without having his best years behind him. He will need to have shown that he can work under intense pressure and win over a public who, unhappy at the loss of his predecessor, may not immediately be on his side.
I might as well be writing Alan Pardew's CV. He even played for Spurs. Before you tell me I am talking nonsense, yes he did. He played four times in the Intertoto Cup of 1995, having just been released by Charlton and before joining Barnet. What you may not find on his CV was that one of those games was Spurs' record defeat, 8-0 at Cologne!
If all that were to happen, then who next for Newcastle? What's Fabio Capello up to? Only joking - I think!
I am really looking forward to this game. Both Tottenham and Newcastle are enjoying marvellous seasons and the atmosphere after such a tumultuous week for Redknapp should be one to savour. The only prediction I am willing to make is that, whilst I am wearing 10 layers of thermals on the gantry, the Geordie fan with the Tyne Bridge tattooed on his belly will be going topless!
