Of course. After that though.

That really depends on what their goal is. Currently their goal seems to be in getting Levy out, something I strongly disagree with, and find completely unrealistic. I frankly don’t see any way they can achieve this goal, other than perhaps buying his stake of the club off him.

I think that the ESL might have been the straw that broke the camel's back but this has been building since probably the back end of Poch's tenure. You're right - regardless of anyone's view of Daniel Levy (and I can understand that he's not everyone's cup of tea) it's just not realistic for him to resign his position. I think that it can be seen that they overplayed their hand although equally I couldn't see them getting much out of an informal meeting with DL and/or the board. For me, the best outcome apart from fan representation (FWIW - I get the argument that the fan/director may only have token influence) is that Levy and the board are undertaking a serious review of the internal structure with a view to reduce the risk of the next managerial appointment going wrong.

Exactly. What’s the point in trying for something like that?

They should be focusing on being an intermediary between the boards and the fans. By refusing a meeting and asking for things well out of their power they are making themselves really irrelevant.

so what could they do? THST moaning that they weren’t consulted about the statement after they refused to meet the board on multiple occasions is a bullshit stance.

the club were rightly getting criticised everywhere for not having not responded or apologised yet. So they’ve waited long enough for THST to come to the table, and they’ve issued their apology and statement.

on top of that they’ve agreed to add a fan to the board WHO GETS VOTING RIGHTS. Now I don’t for one minute think this person is going to have much say, but what more can the club do at this moment in time?
I'm not saying I'm a fan of THST.

THST for sure don't represent me, and their black and white approach have been embarrassing for a long time. There's no acknowledgement of the fact that the Tottenham fanbase they claim to represent have very diverse opinions.

Levy and the board are the ones that look like utter arseholes off the back of the Super league collapse IMO

Depends on which glass you are looking through.

Some fans do understand why Levy decided to go with it rather than risk being left behind, despite it's obvious flaws.

In 10 years time, had it gone on without us, became World's premier competition and we're sat in a Premier League that no-one watches anymore, flat broke because Sky and BT took their money to the ESL.. would the fans be happy?

There's not as much outrage out there as everyone is making out, because the majority, as always, stays silent until it matters.

Except people are criticising them for what they are doing.

I’ll explain.

Did do - gave the fans a representative on the board.

Didn’t do - consult the fans before telling everyone they would now be consulting the fans.

I think I read your post the wrong way round. I read it as us criticising THST for doing nothing. It's been a long day.

You might well be right. If you were chairman of the THST what would you feel was the best way of influencing the board to make real changes?
Be absolutely scathing, but polite, about the decision to participate in the ESL. Demand genuine, large-scale fan representation on the board and offer to work with ownership and management to deliver it.

Also touch base with the key point regarding Tottenham's involvement, which is that we are different than the other ESL clubs. Levy has spent 20 years trying to break into the top 10 of big, rich clubs. With the new stadium, he has finally succeeded, despite the patchy on-field success. When the ESL was mooted and Tottenham were invited to participate, he had little choice but to sling a hook into it and hope for the best, because anything else would negate his entire career for the past 20 years. Saying no could have relegated Spurs permanently to the second echelon of clubs that he has spent all this time trying to escape from.

Despite their well meaning intention, their demands were so unrealistic that they have permanently relegated themselves in the eyes of the club. You can understand their frustration especially because of the club leading them down the rosy path only to be tackled from behind like Charlie Adam but their response was completely detached from reality. Demand that the entire board resign? Can you imagine attempting to negotiate with someone who demanded your resignation just a few weeks earlier? The club needs to and will pay a price for the ESL but THST put themselves in a position where the club has more incentive to find a different group of supporters to work with rather than THST.

@davidmatzdorf 's posts are spot on.
