The only thing is that players at Spanish and Portugese clubs all have buy-out clauses, so we could go a 'do a Dembele' and turn up and slap down a cash payment for someone like Muniain, Griezmann or Rodrigo.

There was ITK the other day that we were specifically looking at players with buy out clauses, so this may well be true. The club have money to spend, and if others know that, may be awkward to deal with. Set fee players may be easier to buy on the last day. Personally, I think they'll go back in for Damaio, there was a suggestion earlier in the window tgat whikst he was bo longer target no.1, we woild go nack later. But if Inter prove to be difficult again, Levy will go for someone like Rodrigo. Brazilian/Spanish, so should integrate with our Brazilians and Soldado easily.

Maybe a loan with option to buy. He can prove his fitness from now until January by playing

I think this has some potential. There was something mentioned yesterday about Benny going back to France. However, there was also talk a week or so back that AVB wants Pereira if Coentrao turns us down. It was suggested Baldini wasn't convinced. Rumours of us loaning him were knocked down by Inter, but maybe loan with option to buy going both ways, Benny to Inter, Pereira to us, could work. Pereira gets to try recapture his Porto form under his Porto mentor, Benny gets to prove his fitness. Inter get rid of Pereira who they don't fancy, AVB gets shot of Benny, both clubs get international LB's like for like.

Regarding Bale, I really expected that to be done by now. Quite strange, he seemed all but gone, just waiting for the official announcement. Wonder what's holding things up. Surely he's not staying???

If we buy any more players by the deadline tomorrow I'll be really surprised. But it will be a pretty good bonus, although the issue of gelling so many players will get even tougher for AVB.

Maybe Halilovic is still something that can be worked on.

I've got a feeling with Luongo being sold we will loan Swindon another academy player for the season. Are there any major positions they need filling?

Wasn't the plan A was to keep Bale? He was promised to stay to a number of players who came in (Soldado, Paulinho etc etc)

Promised is to strong a word, Paulinho was told he was expected to stay yes but Soldado certainly wasn't. Read his quotes at the time "it will be extremely difficult to keep him" he was saying. Soldado didn't expect him to be here so there is no way he was promised.

Rob said there were too many inconsistencies in his story - that he was an ex-youth team coach now working in Scottish lower leagues, yet he knew all the intricate financial details of the Bale deal etc. I think JJ spoke warmly about him because he shared his fanatisim for Sherwood!

I think the Benny medical thing is just a myth started by him, which has spread/keeps being rehashed.
