If we are going for one winger and one inside forward like Bernado at City then I can see the sense in Fernandes. If that's not the plan then I cannot see the point in him. It's too soon to say that GLC is not fancied by the Mourinho team so it can only be a positional thing.

Would just like to say I’d love to see Florian Grillitsch here. We’ve been linked before and I think he’s a great player who could fit with Mourinho.

Trying to figure out where he plays for us. If Jose is building the team around Dele, as looks likely, we will play the 4231 with Dele at 10.

We have Tanguy, Lo Celso, Winks and Sissoko for one spot at #8. Dele, GLC, and Lamela for #10. Lucas, GLC, Lamela for the right forward/wing position.

Would be sad, but fine to move Lamela on. He’s just never actually going to be healthy. I guess Bruno could take that spot, but even then, you’re talking 40-50M+ for a guy who is unlikely to start.

Or does he start up at right wing/forward? Don’t think I’ve seen him played that high up, but I suppose he could?

totally agree with this post.

fernandes looks a good player, but surely we’ve got that type of player in the squad? I suppose with outgoings it could work (as others have alluded to).

if there’s money though, there are surely other priorities.

I do wonder whether he’ll really take to GLC and Sess

The difficult thing is that a DM can have different qualities in different leagues. A DM in La Liga or Serie A needs different skills to one in the PL, more tactical and passing, whereas in the latter needs more athleticism and resistance to pressing.

If we tie down even just one of Toby or Jan to a new contract I doubt we'll be in the hunt for another CB. That will leave us Toby/Jan, Sanchez, Foyth, and Tanganga as CB options.

Aside from my personal opinions of Bruno I just don't really understand how he would fit in. I don't see how we keep Dele, Celso and Fernandes all happy when they all play best as a 10. Yes Celso can play as a CM and a wide but he's best as a 10. Would be much better to look for someone young if we wanted three options
