Hope we are catching a lot of Anderlecht games atm, I know they arent doing so well, but they have an extremely young side in general and if we're looking for creative options we jump on Yari Verschaeren before he breaks out.

I think we should not do a Chelsea and loan around 50 players, but we could do more with buying promising players from abroad and loan them back. If they get the breakout we sell for profit or include them in our first team. Bit curious that not more pro clubs have looked at these options to make profit.

He’s got a young Xabi Alonso vibe to him. Would be an astute signing.
Yeah the concern with that would be is he good enough defensively. The rumblings were that was why Bayern ultimately passed on him this summer. And Xabi Alonso always played with a destroyer next to him at Real Madrid & Liverpool.

Pau Lopez would have been perfect for this.

Question is do we want a deep-lying playmaker or a destroyer? A Marc Roca or a Florentino Luis?

A destroyer who is calm in possession. Doesn't need to be pinging long balls, just protect the back 4 and give the ball to our more advanced players.

Probably Florentino Luis type then. Ibrahim Sangare or Thiago Maia may do the right kind of job too.

Agreed, while it would obviously be a plus to have someone who can do both. The priority for me would be someone incredibly defensively astute. Ndombele and Lo Celso should be able to create plenty of chances between the two of them.

Zakaria is a destroyer but can also pass and dribble really well. We should be trying everything to get him in imo

I'd probably like somebody in the Gueye, Kante mould. Although I do think Fabinho at Liv is slightly different but does an equally good job.

Exactly my thought. Adding another playmaker even deeper is just too much of the same. As you say, the combo is obviously best but we would never afford such a player and they are rare anyway.

A few names we've been linked with that I think would be fantastic signings: Carles Alena, Dayot Upamecano, Max Aarons, Nathan Ferguson and Eberechi Eze. All young players with massive potential and a youthful infusion in some spots that need it.

Alonso, a bit like Carrick, could play with a destroyer or hold on his own. Whether Roca is that good, I do not know.

Depends on the setup we settle on/back into.
I think a destroyer who can drop between the centre backs when required is the best option for us. We have Ndombele and Winks who can play alongside a destroyer and be the more progressive option. Think Dier/Wanyama next to Dembele. 4231 could see midfield of
Dier & Winks/Ndombele
433 could see midfield of
Winks, Dier, Ndombele
Definite need replacements for the following players
Aurier, Alderweireld, Rose?, Wanyama and/or Dier, Erisken, plus maybe an additional forward. Could argue with Kane showing deeper, plus already having Lo Celso, we could sacrifice the Erisken replacement for another forward.
Thats a fairly substantial shopping list.
Plus need to ensure that the development of Tanganga, Skipp, Parrott etc does not stall getting stuck in the Poch Zone. This happened to Onomah, and then he finally got loans they wete I’ll conceived under Steve Bruce, effectively looking 3 seasons of key development has now left him struggling. Look at how Chelsea pick their loans, players are sent to clubs where they are managed well, and they come back better for it.

Tagliafico from Ajax always looks class to me. Shame he's not really needed if we're looking to play Sessegnon there.

I know it’s lyall but I like the player ,so yeah

I have concerns with Everton (known as 'chive' in Brazil cause he looks like a cartoon character ). He's a livewire but would take a while to get up to speed to understanding team dynamics.

I'm not sure on Gabigol either, really struggled in Europe last time and I feel like he's one of those Brazilians who needs the home environment around him.

Brazilians are always a gamble in the PL it seems.

Based on last night's performances, I'm starting to see a nucleus of players that Poch will build around. When fit, the following players, I believe, should consistently start in our current first XI. and first off the bench:

Gazza (GK)
Kane (CF)
Son (AM)
Lo Celso (M)
Lamela (AM)
N'Dombele (M)
Winks (M)
Sanchez (CB)
Dele (M/AM)
Sess (LB)
(10/11)

Clear to see, based on the above, that our most pressing need is at that back... need to prioritize a CB and RB. After that, I'd focus on adding depth to the midfield.

This also goes to show how much work needs to be done bringing in replacements to fill out a comprehensive squad. We potentially need to recruit the following over the next year to 18 months:
1. GK x1
2. FB x2
3. CB x2
4. M x1
5. AM x1
6. CF x1
(8 new recruits)

This is based on the following players leaving or on the outskirts of the squad: (Leaving) Wanyama, Toby, Jan, Aurier, Eriksen, Rose. (Squad) Dier, Davies, Skippy, Parrott, Moura, Foyth, Sissoko.

Starters, plus new recruits, plus current squad players = 23.
