I will continue to believe that Arsenal will finish above us until they mathematically can't. Let myself succombe to foolish hope last season that I would finally see us finish above them (having never seen that happen, after following Spurs for 20 years from the 1995/96 season), but then we conspired to screw the pooch in that way that only we can during the final 4 games of last season and normal service was depressingly resumed.

Would still put money on those ****s finishing above us if I was offered odds right now.

Agreed, not even entertaining the idea of finishing above them as we've fucked it up from almost impossible positions at least 3 times in the last 5 seasons.

Ok but where are the gonna drop the other points? Every big team has destroyed West Ham away. Why is the best team in the county going to drop points?

Because the games aren't all related. Just because west ham got beat by man utd doesn't mean Chelsea will also beat West ham. All mutually exclusive.

I don't think we will win it but by the end I think if we do what we should and supposed to do we can close the gap. I don't think we will win all our games so it will need a five game swing which just won't happen.

citys play Stoke, then play Liverpool and Arsenal
we pick up points then others will have to drop them
Been a very good weekend so far, to gain 2 on united with being home to bournemouth and us playing Everton is better than could have hoped for and means even Liverpools win over Scum means we still have a bit of breathing space

I think we'll get some more clues from the Bayern game. If things go true to past form, the goons will play rather well, and get some kind of creditable result given they're already out of it. The positive energy from this will sustain them for the rest of the season and they'll go on a good run. If Bayern absolutely demolish them at home, which given how they've played for much of this season is not out of the realms of impossibility, then maybe the tide might finally bloody turn.

Just speculating but if the thugs from Wet Spam and Chavski get it on tomorrow night inside the stadium could they both be deducted points ?

I can't bring myself to cheer on the knuckle draggers even when they are playing the BNP so I have to console myself with divine intervention that results in both teams losing points.

knuckle draggers and BNP could apply equally to both west ham and chelsea

Agree with all of that. Of course we all want to chase them down, but it would involve an absolute implosion and for us to win every single game. Here's hoping though!

Doesn't need an implosion at all. If they lose tomorrow City have it in their control to get within 2 points of Chelsea by beating them at the Bridge, and we'll be 2 points further back. And then it'll be a situation like in F1 where the two cars up front are squabbling for the lead and they fail to notice the car in third place that sneaks up on the inside and passes them both.

If they lose tomorrow and against city, we will be 4 further back, provided we win our games. That's still another 2 games to make up. And they will not lose away to West Ham, happy to bet whatever you want on that!

We're in a really good position for the top 4 now but I think it is still pretty tight. We're only 4 points ahead of Liverpool and City/Arse both have games in hand.

We need to keep key players fit, that is absolutely vital at this stage.

If we can get, say, 15 points from the next 6 then we'll be in with a great shout.

I think it will be harder than some are suspecting though.

Title-wise, Chelsea would have to seriously implode to lose it now. Can't see that, they are ruthless.

Shame the return game against Chelsea came bang on the halfway stage of the season. It would take them losing the plot to not go on to win the title this season but I'd have felt a lot more confident also if we had a fixture against them coming up. It may not go onto to have an impact but at least we'd have had a say. As it is we're relying on other teams...mainly lower table fodder to try and turn them over. Ah well.

We can do as best as we can and go on title winning form which will seal a Top 4 position easily and give confidence for next season [not to mention a successful FA Cup campaign]. If Chelsea slip up on the way we can pounce.....if not we'd still have had a good season and onwards and upwards.

Isn't city's game in hand the derby vs united? Win win for us if so. With all the money spent by our rivals, any position in the top 4 would mean a glorious season but we should keep looking ahead rather than behind. Would love the arse to finally miss out, I think it could take them years to get back in.
