I only have one fantasy league that I care about, but it I'll probably do a few mock drafts and join a couple of free leagues to practice.

Crazy news on the Bills punter. The LA Times article is horrific.

I think the tougher part is how apparently it was fairly widely known.

I have seen a lot of "worst kept secret at SDSU" and several reporters sort of saying it was known that he "may" have "something of concern" in his background.

If you are a reporter and this is something you knew about and weren't actively trying get the story into the public, just go ahead and quit your career.

I did wonder why he wasn't the first punter off the board in the draft with those stats.. Really horrible.

The Bills were informed about the allegations in July. In August they cut their starting punter to make room for this guy. You would assume the Bills have done their due diligence on the guy before making that change.

Jordan Stout was seen by a lot as the clear #1 punter, his net average wasn't that different than Ariaza but Stout had a career average of like 2 yards per returned punt(whereas Ariaza had a career average of 10+ yards) he also had a higher % inside the 20, less touchbacks and a higher career average hangtime.

Camarda was ranked either #2 or #3 by most of the draft scouts because he was very good at putting the ball into areas where it pinned the opposing team. He also had a higher hang time than Ariaza in his career.

Basically Stout had a big leg and was accurate. Camarda was seen as accurate. And both were seen to kick high hanging punts (which is good for kick coverage). Araiza was seen as a guy with a massive leg that your would have to coach up to get to do the things the other 2 were already doing.

So....Stout and Camarda were seen as "ready" and Araiza was seen as "upside".

Found this video interesting about how teams slowed down the Chiefs last year and then how the Chiefs attempted to counter.

Annnnd Araiza has deservedly been cut by the Bills.

Sad part is that if he was a 1st round pick or a QB i am not sure he would have been cut. Think we would have gotten the NFL's "let the process work" messaging until it became impossible to ignore.

This is quite surprising given he put out a statement earlier saying he’s looking forward to the facts coming out? And surprising when you consider previous form by teams dealing with this kind of thing.

I would say that it speaks to the value of his position. A punter, no matter how much a coach values them, ultimately is involved in a few plays a game. Other positions are just far more important to the success of a team.

If he had been a QB or a star WR then we would have heard them saying that they are letting the process work. But since he is a punter it is quick and easy to swap him out for a player who may be 80% as talented but has no baggage. It also allows the team to say "we will not stand for this type of behavior from our players" even if they would "let the system work" for other players on the team.

no worries - ESPN reckons your auto draft is the best of all of our drafts!
I must admit, I was sure someone was going to have Taylor as a keeper so pleased I got him but nevertheless, I know how irritating it is in live drafts when someone isn't participating.

Just looking forward now to Redzone Sundays again!

I want compensation, trade me Jonathan Taylor and I'll withdraw my written complaint.
