He does counter that by saying he thinks it will be very very difficult to find someone the quality of Vlahovic.

The only way I see something happening is if we get a 'too good to turn down' offer or a late loan deal.
We should have just extended Vinicius loan another year. That's all we needed.

Although LB/LWB wasn’t a priority position for recruitment, I can’t help but view Brighton’s signing of Cucurekka as an absolute steal.

Rumblings of Jerome Boateng to Lyon. I’d have thought he’d have a few bigger suitors in Serie A or the Premier League. Though I suppose something else could still happen as he’s in no rush, being a free agent and not limited by the window.

WF/ST is the only glaring hole that we didn't manage to sign, otherwise a solid window.

Disappointing to not have signed a Traore or back-up ST but not surprising without selling Ndombele etc given we've made about net outlay of about £80mil I can't see us having another £50-60m to spend on another attacking player without any outgoings.

CB was n.o1 priority and we sorted that with £45m on Romero

a WF player to replace Bale and Lamela was important = Gil. Gil will play a lot of minutes at LW, RW and n.o8, top top talent nearly ready for 1st XI

Gollini was a creative loan option which futureproofs against Hugo leaving next summer

Emerson Royal is an upgrade at RB which is important especially if we are to use our full-backs to both push high with a more defensive CM set-up with PEH & Skipp

I think if we'd managed to find a buyer for Ndombele then we'd have used that case for e.g. Traore and everyone would be sucking off this window but unfortunately its harder to shift our players than we realise especially when offers come in but the players like Aurier and Ndombele etc turn then down then nothing we can do.

We kept Kane which is another big win.

Overall a 7/10 window but i'm optimistic that Paratici knows what he's doing and has a clear plan he is implementing to re-shape the squad.

I think we are now 2 top signings off having a very balanced quality squad : CM & WF/ST that's not a bad place to be in BUT we may well need to sign a WF/ST in jan if Kane or Son get injured.

If you're going to include Rose who wasn't even registered, then what about the replacements for Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicous?

Right back was a problem area for us last season and Emerson looks like a 50/50 gamble, although I'm excited if we sign him.

We sold our best CB last season and are still relying on dumb and dumber (even if they played a decent 3 games). Romero will hopefully sort that out in the longer term.

Winks needed sold and we don't know what the hell is up with TND who was key for us the majority of last season. If things stay as is, we're light as hell in central midfield and don't have adequate quality back up.

Where will Bale and CV's goals come from? I wouldn't want to be relying on Lucas, Dele and Bergwijn to get us goals considering they mustered up a whole 4 premier league goals between them last season.

Surprised we haven't shown an interest in Edouard at Celtic, as a Vinny replacement, price would suit Levy, being relatively cheap, in footballing terms.

Nah, that would mean actually paying a transfer fee.

We only do loans now.

Agreed. For the price mentioned, he’d have been a more than decent punt. Best case he could strike gold. Worst case he’d be able to be sold for similar to what Palace are paying. Got pace, good finisher, good feet, and decent enough size to play into/play off.
There are a number of reasonable deals to be had that we just don’t seem interested in. Seem happier to leave the squad unbalanced again. Whilst I understand the reluctance to be left with a player we can’t get rid of, when the transfer fee is low, surely it makes it easier to sell them on without making a big loss.

I see Everton has got Grey who is premier league proven, Leicester got Lookman also premier league proven for little or nothing. That to me is good business and why teams like Leicester seem to do well in the league.

They do not necessarily rely on exotic sounding expensive players. We nowhere have the financial clout of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea so these are the bargains that we should have been picking up.

Some the players we have been linked to I know most of you never heard of, so have no way of knowing how good or bad they are or better than the Greys and Lookmans of this world, but are happy to jump on the band wagon.

IMO while its good going for a recognised particular player, its also good to look at players closer to home that we can afford. My penny's worth

We got a lot younger and that’s cool. I’m willing to believe that Ndombele will be reintroduced and be fine, but not getting a striker is a big miss. Overall, I’m happy with what was done, I think many of us bought in to the updates too much and thought this was going to be a final week with Emerson and 2-3 more. But, it wasn’t meant to be. This isn’t a Top 4 roster for me, but maybe Nuno can pull a Ranieri and get us punching above our weight over the course of a season.

I would have been perfectly fine with all of our business had we got another centre forward in. A massive own goal, which will be bore out over the season. Sure Vinicius wasn’t great but he gave son and Kane much needed rest by playing in the cup games. Now we don’t have that. Could be a poor decision.

So if Emerson is the last one in our squad looks like:

Son/Clarke - Kane/Scarlett - Bergwijn/Lucas
Dele/Gil/Ndombele - Skipp/Winks - PEH/Lo Celso
Regulion/Sess/Davies - Dier/Rodon - Sanchez/Romero - Emerson/Tanganga/Aurier/Doherty
Lloris/Gollini

Good start to the rebuild with getting out Lamela, Toby, Hart, and Sissoko. Seems according to most fans we weren't able to shift Winks, Ndombele Aurier, Doherty, and Davies. Rebuilds definitely take more than one window, so I'm not going to be too OTT in my complaining there. I would say out of any of those, Aurier is the only one I wish moves on before the deadline due to his contract. Winks and Doherty I can live with if they want to prove themselves, but Aurier knows he's on the way out regardless and I hope we want committed players.

The main question is going to be around Ndombele. Can he get his head down and contribute to the club? We desperately need creativity and it will be interesting to see if Nuno goes with the most talented player (arguably) in our midfield or if he puts his faith in Gil who looks like he could be used as a CAM/CM. He worked his ass off in the last UCL match, and that's definitely appreciated even though he is raw.

Other than that, we need Bergwijn, Lucas, Scarlett, Clarke, Dele, Gil ANY of them to chip in with goals and assists to make up for the loss of Bale and Vinicius' goals and assists across the competitions. I'm totally fine trusting in some of the younger unproven players, and let's see if they can gain confidence and take the necessary steps.

We are one bad Kane/Son injury away from a potential crisis, so I'm hoping to see this team mentality come to fruition and have the squad battle for each other. #COYS

I know it's a lot, but if we believe in Scarlett he can get some valuable minutes this season. He could be our version of Greenwood. The only thing is that our fans and management need to be delicate with the situation. I'm already willing to give him and Parrott until they're 23ish to have a final decision. We've seen it with Kane and I feel like in today's age, we write off players at 17-20 when they're not even full adults yet.

I do wish we got a striker/wide forward in and think we could regret that decision, but a part of me is glad we didn't get any striker in just to fill the spot if we don't believe in it.

Whilst I hope he gets some chances, physically he can’t play the number 9 role. We need someone else to hold up the ball and occupy the centrebacks.

Was chatting to a Celtic fan the other day, and he was saying that Edouard’s attitude is shocking. Desperate for someone to take him off their hands.

3 out and out RB’s, 1 out and out striker :X3:
I think we are a striker away from being better than we started the window.
Elsewhere, outgoings have been replaced. Bale and Vinicius haven’t.
Midfield I can live with.

If Emerson comes in and thats the last bit of business. I think it could end up needing us to adapt from the 433 we have used so far to 3 at the back (either 343 or 352).

Romero as the marauding CB that steps into DM to intercept in order for us to play a more creative CM without compromising defensive stability:
