The Goat can be several different ITK sources as I understand. It is a place they can post anonymously. All have been verified by the mods, I'm relatively new to the site also so I hope this is accurate.

As an aside, surely players wouldn't get in trouble for saying someone has signed? They do it all the time on twitter etc.

Possibly, but I wouldn't risk it. It's not the gentlemanly thing to do. Have a chat and then broadcast it all 10 minutes later. In his mind its private and just letting a fan know. But it's happening and that's the important thing

Today has been my least productive days work since the transfer window opened.

I feel bad as I've literally done fuck all.

There have been quite a few days like that so far, but considering the magnitude of this transfer window, the likelihood is that the next few windows will be boring as hell, so will more that make up for it...

It is my first day on the site, but is it rude to ask how the goat works? If there is a link that explains it, much appreciated.

Btw I will try and donate but unemployed at moment. See what I can do.

Goat is basically an empty account run by the mods here. If any ITK, whether well known or new, wants to post anonymously (to avoid being asked a slew of questions by posters here or because it's something that could get back them and get them in trouble) they can send the information to the mods to be posted as "the Goat". As long as they pass a vetting process that gives them reasonable credibility, that is.

This is why it seems like A&C or Rob are often the Goat......because they are writing the information for our consumption

And it is also why the Goat has no presumption to be consistent. One ITK could tell them Bale is off and another that Bale is staying and they would post both.
