Without trying to be overly negative I find it hard to get excited by the likes of Walker, Rose, Naughton, Fazio, Dembele, Chiriches or Kaboul (still seemingly struggling) nor the likes of Townsend, Chadli and Holtby beyond the subs bench

Certainly not seeing any wow factor there

Conversely I'm very happy about the way Eriksen, Lamela, Dier, Capoue and Soldado might step up this season and think Davies could start to show he can develop into a solid LB

Of course at the end of the day you don't need 11 "wow" players in a team, what you need is a balanced team that fit together well, lets hope Poch can work towards getting that, but I still see a few weaknesses and question marks

What makes me feel positive is that it seems like MP knows what he is looking for and also seems to be having a positive impact on some of our current defenders. Rose, for instance, is actually looking like a good defender in recent games and is earning his spot in our first team ahead of Davies at the moment.

I can't comment on Fazio having not really seen him play that much (though it sounds like you are not that impressed by him?), but maybe MP sees potential in him that will work well in his system. The other defensive signings he has made seem pretty good (Dier and Davies here, Lovren at Southampton).

I also think it's interesting that we've only signed defenders so far this summer. I think it's a smart strategy to sort out the defense first, hopefully if we sign Schneiderlin we'll also have a solid but also talented passing midfield in front of them too.

Ha it wouldn't be us without last minute shopping. I'd like to think we'll get Schneiderlin. Can we get one more over the line before the window slams a slut? Not sure.

And thank you Dovahkiin.

Apart from the obvious (MS), it really could be a net cast wide for other potential incomings and most definitely, this falls into Baldini's remit.

Must be dependent to a degree on out's though and I'm looking squarely at Lennon, Townsend and lil' Bobby bless his heart.

More?! MORE?! Well bend me over and spank my botty! I'm getting a little excited here, more excited than Cliff being left alone in a classroom full of sleepy children.

These ITKS tease us so. I shall be watching, AND as I haven't yet I've stuck £10 in the SC coffers.

Sorry it took so long on the news front.
Still think we have last minute shopping to do

so @allatsea, yesterday you suggested he was just behind the news cycle online and I thought differently. I was certainly wrong about that. Good call!

Sod it, I put £15 in as today has been a good day. Use the £5 towards a new banning stick A&C, looks like you'll need one after today (y)

Well if you rate those players that highly then you will struggle to see the weaknesses and question marks. I just don't share or your high regard for the players I mentioned and though having a better balance can improve the team and having a few players now more familiar showing better form I still don't see that offsetting those weaknesses that I see and there are no guarantee that others will answer the question marks.
As we saw last season new players don't always settle in quickly, Dier looks to have settled well, but Davies might take a while and more so might Fazio adjusting to the PL

We shall see, time will tell but I don't see a depth of quality to match the likes of City and Chavs even if we can remain ahead of United and edge ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal, but even that is a bit uncertain and depends in part how well their new players adjust and how they cope with departures

We haven't made many signings to a team that by our standards was pretty poor last season and the signings we have made are hardly big name signings. granted that big name signings are not always the best option to fill a need, but

But maybe Pochettino is the best signing of all, and the "pretty poor last season" team will be much better because of this.

Rather than a ban rule, I think you should convert it into a fine system. £1 for every post that is off topic and failure to pay results in a ban until it is paid.

Given this post is clearly off topic, I'll self fine myself and shoot you a nugget (not what you think A&C).

Davies, Dier, Vorm, Fazio, and more than one. We're almost up to last summer's number.
