Considering anything over the 16m fee to Juventus is practically free money for them, you'd think they're risking a hell of a lot by always pushing up the price...Small update....
As stated, we HAD agreed what we thought was the acceptable fee for Romero. However, Atalanta keep moving the goalposts and I've said it previously but Paratici won't be messed around and has given a deadline before he will move on.
We are STILL very confident that we will agree a deal and there is pressure building from all sides for Atalanta to accept our offer. Romero returns to training early next week and we want him here. Given the current financial state of many European clubs, it really is a huge amount of money for Atalanta and they're trying to maximise their income and you can't blame them for that. I honestly don't think they can afford to turn down the amount we offered and that is the main reason alongside the willingness of the player to come that I remain extremely confident that he will be our player.
