Twelve months ago we’d have been skittled for 120, the transformation in this team is hard to put into words!
We could actually field a second XI which would more than hold it’s own on the world stage at this moment!

I loved watching the contrast of Root and Brooks bat together. Root still scores at a good tempo but is much more about placing the ball into gaps and picking up 1s and 2s whereas Brooks is stand and deliver. Very hard to bowl to because they're so focused on stopping the onslaught from Brooks that probably the best batsman England have produced was allowed to quietly get to three figures without playing a shot in anger.

Can’t wait to watch Brook in the Ashes under the pressure and spotlight that Series brings

Up against a really good bowling attack as well it will be interesting to see where his numbers are by the end of the summer

Could be another 1 season wonder like our H….

What impressed me with Root's innings was how he saw off the front bowling pair and the shine off the new ball. Then progressed his innings, proper test match century. Brook just is amazing lucky to have such a talent.

To think, once Bairstow is fit, England's middle order goes Root, Brook, Stokes, Bairstow. That's trouble if even one of them gets in, imagine if we get off to a flyer and you see that quartet sitting on the balcony. Yikes.

It’s a bloody good job Buttler can’t get to grips with Test cricket!!

Bloody hell. Though TBF, if we opened with him, would it be noticably worse that opening with Crawley? As it stands, Crawley gets something approaching a score every 5 innings or so. I don't see Buttler doing any worse than that, and if he really connected a couple of times each series we could be out of sight by lunch on day 1.

Edit: Actually made myself chuckle. Imagine dropping Crawley and Duckett and running Buttler/Bairstow to open, Pope, Root, Brook, Stokes, Foakes to follow with Robinson and Broad to give it a big heave to finish. Well I say finish, but actually we'd finish with Leach and Anderson reverse sweeping the opposition into insanity.

Very silly.

unfortunately the women are falling apart in their WC semi-final.

doesn't really matter anyway, only playing to see who loses to Australia anyway.

time for the likes of Brunt to retire (should have retired before this anyway).

Its an end for an era for the England women. Hopefully now the team will be picked on merit as the talent coming through from the youngsters will make them very competitive against Australia.

Don’t see us dropping Foakes.

Bairstow is likely to get back in at the expense of Crawley.

Bairstow, Duckett, Pope, Root, Brook, Stokes, Foakes…

Wonder if they might put Root as opener. He virtually did the job when he batted 3 and might suit his tempo more. England test cricket has just gone mad!
