Jesus christ! We pulled that out of nowhere. How'd the Aussies lose that. Superb from the bowlers at the death.

I think they lost it mainly because it was their first competitive game since January or thereabouts, looked like they were very rusty down the order!

Those last 4 overs were a fun watch. Think Aussies looked rusty and lacking lower down the order, but also well bowled Archer and Wood in particular.

Love being able to hit them with our own pace bowlers.

I turned over to the golf! Cos there was no way we were going to win. Only just found out the result.

Silly bugger. :grumpy:

I’m very confused about our batting order. Buttler is our finisher so why open with him? Banton has a metric f**k-ton if runs opening. Moeen needs to be in at 7 not 6.

Morgan said a while back that they wanted to get Buttler to face as many balls as possible - cos he hits a lot of them a long way! - so they were going to try him as opener and see how it went. Banton will probably have to wait his turn - Jason Roy will open if he's not injured. And Moeen will bat at 7 when Stokes is back.

It’s playing with an order for the sake of it though

Absolutely crazy not to open with Banton yesterday

England stuck at it really well and obviously the Aussies threw it away. Started with Smith giving it away and the rest followed. By the time they realised they could actually not win it was too late, shame!

Reckon pound for pound Wood is the quickest bowler in the world atm and under the lights is a serious handful

Impressed with Rashid too. Very solid with the ball these days

Well then slot Banton in as a like for like and don’t fuck about
They wanted to try Buttler again, to give him the chance to face more deliveries. That was the thinking behind it. They are gearing up for a world cup so there's plenty (ish) of time for other 'experiments', it's just on this occasion they went with this one.

Banton is probably going to become a fixture in the team but he's not there yet.

Buttler has been opening in the IPL for about 3 years, he’s now our opener with Roy when he’s not injured, changed a while ago. Banton will make way for Stokes no doubt. And Moeen definitely one place too high (or 6 places depending how you view him.)

Agree with most of this, seems managing Wood like we do and unleashing him once every now and then stops him from breaking down and allows him to bowl thunderbolts.
