When you actually look forward to Spurs playing.......

Hasn't been there for a good couple of years, probably since that run in at the end of the 06/07 season under Jol but now Saturday's can't come soon enough. Im sure a huge part of it is just the winning factor but there seems to be that buzz around the club again, amongst the fans and even amongst the press.

Not sure it was worthy of a new thread but you can never have too many feel good threads!

If we were to finish 7th then this would still be a decent result of a season, esp after the 2 points from 8 games

I wonder whether people would consider HR's achievement of keeping us up and getting 7th (if that were to happen) on a par, as greater acheivement or a lesser achievement than Jol taking us to 5th in 06/07?

it would be a great result, i was just saying its a shame we started the run so close to the end of the season, i dont atchaly want the season to end now

I would say just under, a great result, but to atchaly et us up to 5th or challaging 4th takes alot, and even though we may have been there if we had redknap from the start with the players we have now, he atchaly has to do that for a full season, till then he is just (very slightly) behind Jols 2 5th places and only just losing out on 4th

Very true, i wouldn't mind seeing a league table since January, think we have only lost 2 games? Just hope we can carry the momentum forward.

To confirm i wasn't comparing Jol's entire reign with the current regime, just Jol's efforts in taking us from 10th ish in Feb 07 to finish 5th (1 lossin 15 games) to Harry's record of (possibly) achieving 7th having inherited such a rancid position when most of us would have taken 17th place!

i'm enjoying our games now, but still a bit worried over how narrow our victories have been, they could easily turn into draws or defeats with just a bit of bad luck like at blackburn, we have to consistently create more chances so we won't be vulnerable to luck. the opposite is true too though - so many of our losses have been by only one goal, with just a bit more class / stability / effort we could turn those into draws and victories.

we're still a ways from a regular top 6 squad that will consistently pick up victories against lower teams, though i'm optimistic that we're getting there

it will come over the summer as the media brainwash us into thinking we're going to break into the top 4 like they have done for the last few summers, only for us to lose an away game on the first day of the season lol..

I agree! also, i am really starting to hate international breaks, lets just roll over into next season.
The way we played against the Spammers on the weekend was great, our posession of the ball was superb and they resorted to trying to hit us on the break.
One good thing about finishing a bit lower this year is that there isn't going to be that much hoohaa about our players, i would say out of our starting 11 only Modric will be chased after, hopefully Valencia will sell Silva to Juve instead and we can get rid of a few fringe players so Harry can strengthen a bit more and we can almost have the same 11 finishing this season as starting the next.... that would be something.

If that happens AGAIN, I'm going to cut my heart out.

Couldn't handle it again.

I don't think I'll ever have that feeling again after the way Jol was ousted.

that feeling isnt there just yet, its getting there but tbh mine wont return unless we have a good start to next season say after about 6/7 games with good results then it'll come back just like it did in the jol era. but i am loving the results since the everton game but i want to see how we do against sunderland in the first game of next season before getting that feeling back

I always look forward to us playing big teams. I've been at the lane to watch us beat the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool this season (and hold our own against L'Arse and ManU). My feeling that we will rise to the occasion almost always comes good.

However, I'm not really looking forward to going this weekend. The Toon always seem to beat us and it annoys me so much as I can't stand them.

The thing about us under Jol that year was that we were finally beating the teams we were supposed to beat. And that's why I looked forward to every game back then.

Not quite back there yet...close, but not yet.

Always look forward to the next game, it's just during the match I hate. No matter how well we play and how dominant I am a nervous wreck watching our boys play.

Am I the only one?

no! i dont really enjoy watching us unless we are 3 or 4 up and as that has shown its not always safe at that!
i love watching a reply of our game when i can sit back and actually analyse (as best i can) the game and performances etc
