If Gallas and Sandro are actually fully fit I'd play them. If not then they shouldn't be risked at all.

I'd go:

Gomes

Corluka Bassong Gallas Townsend

Falque Sandro Livermore Dos Santos

Kane

Anyone who isn't Pav

 I'm with this! Although I think maybe we should start with an experienced striker and go for 2 first half goals, then sub.

Hard to pick a team without knowing how fir Sandro and Gallas are. Game time for them but that may be from the bench.

Stoke will surely be picking a weakened team themselves.

Defence
Gomes we know starts, BAE needs looking after with no backup at the moment so Townsend to play even though he is not a full back, Bassong and possibly Corluka alongside with Walker at right back, he had little to do on Sunday, then Walker could come off, Corluka go to right back and Gallas given 30 mins.

Midfield
Livermore a certainty, Krancjar, Gio and probably Falque with Sandro given 30 mins, VDV if needed for final 15 mins don't wan't him breaking down so soon after his last injury, Carroll to get more game time to.

Attack
Pav and Kane. Depending how the game is going option to sub Kane and move Gio up front when Sandro comes on.

I'm not sure we should start Townsend at left back tonight. I think he could be exposed alot more than what he could potentially be in the Europa League. I'd rather see him come off the bench for half hour on the wing.

Apparently that's where he plays for the yoofs. I've only seen him in the Hearts and PAOK games and he did drop deeper than his laughingly titled 'strike partner'.

Personally I'd rather see him upfront with someone in behind (maybe VdV if he's fit) and Pav nowhere near the team but that seems unrealistic.

I wouldn't argue with your accurate Pav assessment but playing him does mean someone might see him score a goal and actually buy him in January or will his transfer fee go down further if he plays all the Europa and Cup games!

It's a risk I agree but BAE and Bale need protecting for the league so see no other option.

I will weep for Harry Kane if he's forced to play alongside Pav AGAIN. Pav is one of the prime reasons Kane's been so-so in his two appearances for us, because he's had to do all the work and has had absolutely nothing from his strike partner.

Oh and I'm happy to see some younger players but I'd rather see one or two in a team of otherwise almost-first-teamers.

Yeah true. I carried on thinking after I posted my initial post about how stuffed we'd be if BAE got injured, so probably right not to risk him unnecessarily. I do fear for Townsend tonight though.

We could really do with Rose back ASAP.

I think that is right, except Falque is not nailed on. Carroll might be preferred on the left in a similar role to the one he played against Hearts. We lose some cutting edge, but it makes us tighter and more creative.

The interesting question is the bench; will Harry go with first teamers or reserves? Available reserves are Kane, Nicholson, Fredericks, Bostock, Luongo, Ceballos, Pritchard, Lancaster, Waller-Larsen - not a natural defender among them, and Harry surely cannot go with Academy boys as he did against PAOK.

I hope at least two of Kaboul, Walker and BAE/Bale on the bench, and I would also like to see at least one of Krancjar, Mordric and Parker, with maybe Defoe as well. I do not want to see Ade risked anywhere but in the Premiership!

Not sure on your bench - yes I want to win but not with all the first team involved ! With the teams generally suggested I would have Walker and/or Bassong to cover defence (Bassong can play left full back as well as CB - possibly coming on for Gallas after an hour if Gallas not up for the 90), and Defoe, but then the youngsters and its 3 from (depending who is in the team) from Carroll, Townsend, Kane, Luongo, Bostock, Nicholson, Pritchard and Ceballos.

You forget that Bassong will be starting.

I'm fairly sure the starting line up will be:

Gomes
Corluka
Gallas
Bassong
Townsend
Sandro
Livermore
Dos Santos
Falque
Kane
Pav

And the subs coming on will probably include VDV, Carroll and another

Not sure I like Townsend being pushed into LB again, and I do not want to risk BAE or Bale, so I wonder about Bassong as LB (he played there as Newcastle) and having Kaboul as CB - in that scenario I have Walker on the bench in case Gallas doesn;t last the 90 and we need to put Bassong back to CB with Walker or Townsend as LB.

The front line did not work against the Greeks - Kane spent a good deal of time chasing back where he was not that efective, Falque was ok but no overly theatening and Gio was poor (and Pav didn't shine) so I would have an extra midfielder in place of Kane - maybe Carroll to improve service to the front. I anticipate this being a tougher team to beat than the Greejs as well.

Subs might well include Townsend if Falque/Gio do not shine or a midfielder such as Livermore or Luongo for Sandro if he cannot last the 90 and Defoe for Pav if we need to change the attack for a goal - 4 options of which we can only use 3.

This doesn't appear to be on TV anywhere, not even any of the foreign satellites, but surely there will be cameras there? Do we think this means it might be on Spurs TV? Or that there's not going to be any way of watching it other than being there?

Best I have found so far is BBC Radio Stoke - access via BBC site for digital
