at the end of the day it's Real Madrid, they are untouchable in football and any player would want to play there. Tapping up will always happen. If they are a club that is direct competition then you fight it with all your might but wanting Real Madrid not snaffle up all the best players and always be at the top of the tree is wanting football to completely change it's culture.

Totally agree 'the untouchables'!

The hilarious thing is they are panic buying, because German football clearly supersedes Spanish football this year!

Does it? If you shake an empty barrel you hear fuck all, if you shake one with some liquid in then it makes noise.

Perhaps the saying should be "a vigarously shaken barrel with a small amount of liquid in makes the most noise".

Well, that's my contribution to this thread sorted.

You're welcome everyone.

You are assuming I was talking about shaking the barrel. However if you throw a barrel down into a cellar I think you will find the empty barrel would in fact make the most noise.
;)

I thought it was referring to a gun barrel. Eg you have no ammunition, it will do no damage, but still makes a fuckload of noise?

I know nothing of guns, not sure if it even makes a noise.

I'm not contributing to this thread very well.

I think there are big positives for Madrid by stating this in the media rather than passing this info on to Bale's agent. By stating in the media that he Bale needs to have a word with the club, he is trying to drum up more media pressure and skew the opinions of those close to Bale, who he may listen to. It is very underhanded and really has to be clamped down upon. It is every bit as bad as Barca's players giving Fabregas a shirt with his name on.

How do you mean, "Media pressure"? In what way would the views close to Bale be skewed by the media? Also it's anything but underhanded, it's blatant!

Personally I don't think there's much wrong with it, in fact I think the rule which says players can't be head-hunted is the ridiculous one, all the more so because it's unenforceable and largely ignored.

If you bash an empty barrel it makes more noise than one which is full.

I was thinking that clubs should be fined for speaking about transfers of other clubs, but they're all too rich to notice the affect of that, so instead why not have some sort of transfer embargo applied?

Difficult to think of a solution that would be effective, but something needs to be done, because it clearly works and unsettles players. Look at the fabregas situation - barcelona were a complete joke

The joke was mainly on the seldomly played fabregash :)

A little rumour I heard from a Spanish friend of mine, Zidane going public about Bale is certainly a ruse to try and influence a player to sign a contract with Real Madrid but that player isn't Bale. I don't think it takes a lot of working out to guess who it may be.

Every single player is tapped up before an approach is made. Been told this by people involved in signing players. I was shocked!

As far as I'm concerned, of course they bloody are, no point wasting loads of time negotiating with a club if the player doesn't ultimately want to come. First you see if wants to come, then you see what he wants, then you try and do a deal with his club, it seems obvious!
