Looks really exciting but didn't we sign Gil while he was at the Olympics?
The Japanese have a different attitude, I'm assuming his focus should be on playing for his nation at this time, especially as the Olympics are taking place in Japan.

With this constant sniping at so many of our players I wonder how many of them are ‘satisfactory’ to quite a few so-called fans in this forum.

I get it that Sanchez is now the butt of people’s jokes. How many other players are not acceptable? It seems to me that there is a preponderance of players that are not liked by some posters here. It’s a team sport. Support the team. Maybe some people just want to win things. If that’s the case then it might be best to join Kane and head over to Man City. I prefer the journey - a bit of a struggle. When victory comes it’ll be so much sweeter.

I understand that we can’t be entirely happy with all our players - but it seems to me that so many just don’t appreciate the majority of our players.

If all works out well, Romero, another CB and Tomiyasu could see us have the defensive foundations set for years, with Rodon and Tanganga on the fringes as well we'd likely need not to invest here.

We’re a bit heavy on the right side in terms of personnel (not quality). So we need to ship some out. Davinson seems lost likely. I still want a left sided CB.

Reguilon, Sessegnon and Cirkin could all be contributors as well and all are obviously young. Very promising.

No-one is interested in Dier. Toby went to the prestigious league in Qatar. Remember all the big clubs that wanted him a couple of years vback that summer he had the transfer clause in his contract? He could be signed for £20M or whatever it was. Yes, that´s true: no one. There´s been some interest from Galatasaray of Turkey in loaning Tanganga.

No reports of any interest in Rodon. We can´t seem to shift Aurier, and it´s not like there have been hordes of clubs trying to buy Davies, Doherty or Reguillon this summer. The latter might be a but unfair to bring to this argument as he´s obviously very talented and it´s not unlikely that, given a different economic climate - and any signal from us or the player that he or we wanted out, we would be able to sell him at a decent price.

Sevilla is a top club in a top league, with a highly respected head coach. They´ve won two Copa Del Reys and qualified for noe less than 9 semifinals (or better) in that tournament in the 21st century. They won their last promotion to the Spanish top flight in 2001 and has since recorded 16 top six finishes. And won 6 UEFA Cup/Europa Leagues since 2006. Plus an European Supercup. They´ve beaten Barcelona (in the Supercup), Man Utd, Liverpool, Inter Milan in finals and semifinals. They kicked our sorry asses out of the tournament in the quarterfinals in 2006/07. They have qualified for the CL in 4 out of the last 6 years, going through to the knock out stages in their last 3 outings. And they´re qualified again for the upcoming season.

We are a wealthier club than Sevilla. But they are in no way a smaller club than us if you are looking at their results - especially over the last decade or two. It´s probably quite the opposite.

This club is for some reason quite eager to sign Sanchez.

My point: some of you don´t like Sanchez and see him as a "clown". But there are more than enough evidence that the rest of the footballing world see him as our best and most valuable defender.

And: Ledley King himself said in an interview last summer that the one defender he was looking forward to working closely within training was Sanchez as he reminded him of himself.

Did you mean to write that in here?

I almost completely agree with you.
But that final part - Ledley is the one who was saying that Dier deserves to be called up to the EURO.
Btw I'm the one of few fans who rate Sanchez ;)
