I thought he played on the left of a back 3?
Or is that just for Japan?
He can play either side in a back 3. Not sure he would play left often though with Davies and Rodon for that side. The right side seems most in need with Toby gone and Sanchez likely going.

Tomi is playing LCB, Wood is being picked up by their RCB mainly. Not under a lot of pressure from the kiwis so hard to get a line on Tomi. Looks comfortable With both feet.

Pretty simple for me: Hope Spain go through in the match against Japan (Tomiyasu ain’t even playing, so extra simple). Gil needs time and I think Tomiyasu will be purchased with the intent he contributes ASAP. Let’s us finish up the deal and get him in sooner rather than later. What’s the rules on quarantining?

Doesn't matter who wins, both have to play till the end as losers play for bronze

Maybe now that he’s suspended he can do a quick cheeky medical without anyone on the Japanese team noticing

Japan through on pens, where they will play Spain. It's a shame Tomiyasu will be suspended.

It's good really. Not only does it reduce the chances of him getting injured, but also means he cannot come up against Gil. If he was marking Gil then we'd end up thinking one of them, or both of them, are crap.

Hopefully he's the right back option and not the second centre back option. Not convinced he's good enough as a starter centre back for us yet

Both playing on the left (left CB in a 3, and left winger) so would have been on the other side of the pitch to each other.

So either Gil joins us early or Tomiyasu gets his medical done? Win/win.

Both will still have 2 games to play now.
