Hopefully his an upgrade on our current defenders. Wonder if thats our budget spent for defence now.... wouldn't suprise me with Levy. Be interesting to see how much Nuno gets to spend.

Nothing.
Paratici does transfers now.

This is exactly the sort of transfer we watch the Dortmund's and Leicester's of the world make and sit here dismayed as to why we weren't in for him. Great start if it comes off i reckon.

True but surely Nuno will be consulted prior for his opinion? Future looks bright doesn't it!
For me with proper DoF it does.
I imagine that Nuno will ask for role in team to be filled, rest will done by Paratici with Hitchen help.

in beginning of this thread I wanted Rangnick = visionary DoF an mediocre manager because I believe that deep structural changes are required if we want to be part of elite.
We got very good DoF and very good manager, all I can hope for is to Levy to let them do their jobs and take us to next level.

If we're pushing for this guy is Andersen no longer being looked at or would we look to bring in both, I wonder?

CB who can play RB will be needed with Nuno in charge, someone will have to cover for Doherty and know how to deal with opposing players on that side.

Basically they need to be one of these:

Have to be honest I get baffled by these hypothetical 3 at the back teams. We have shit CB’s, so having even more of them on the pitch isn’t going to help us and we lose the midfield far too often as it is, without giving up a midfielder for another CB.

Convinced a 433 would get the best out of Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Ndombele too and they will all likely be more influential for us than any CB we have or could sign
Look at Tuchel's Chelsea. A fairly average group of centre-backs can form a very solid defence in the right setup, and 3 at the back can give extra protection to older, slower CBs who maybe aren't what they once were. I could see us getting an extra year or two from Toby in the central Coady role of a back 3.

One thing I like about Tomiyasu is his ability in the air. Something Spurs didn't deal with that well last year. Hopefully being ambidextrous helps us play out the back as well.

Worth noting that he’ll be going to the Olympics with the Japan squad, so we will want to sort this before that stars, and he likely won’t be available for the start of the season.

Sounds like our kind of transfer. Fully expect it to happen on that basis. No preseason and turns up unprepared. Probably won’t see him this side of Christmas. Standard spurs.

In those clips he appeared to dominate Zlatan. Although, I guess we didn't see if Zlatan dominated him too.

But he does seem to be well rounded.

Aggressive, ball playing defenders are very useful in modern football and he seems to have good positioning.

Talented, young, cheap, presumably reasonable wages, and Levy will love signing a potential future star from a major foreign market.

Maybe there’s hope that Paratici is better at picking out a transfer than he with managers…

Also can pass the ball equally well with either foot. Watched a compilation video of him sweeping 50 yard passes on both.

There was word at the weekend if I recall that we had a player readto sign but he was waiting to see what happened with the managerial appointment before putting pen to paper…..

…..so he’s likely decided not to sign.

Only joking….I’m actually on the cusp of optimism again for some reason. If you don’t laugh you’ll cry.

Young, upside potential. Quick, brave, and measured. If we plan to shift to a back 3, it makes great sense.

Very much hope we can find a way to land Andersen and a new RWB too.

Interested to see who will leave between Dier, Sanchez and Toby.

Feels like if we decided to play with 3 CBs we would build around: Tomiyasu, Rodon, Davies, Toby, Japhet + one more. Like I said… hopefully Andersen.

He’s not that consistently good for PSV from what I’ve read

Not surprised. It's often you see these players raise their game for these sort of tournaments. In this Euros it's been the likes of Forsberg, Xhaka, Spinazzola, Schick, even Pogba etc.
