Zaha >>>>> Barkley for me.

I know he's going to be much more difficult to get out of Palace, with their bleach blonde spiv of a chairman wanting to put his dick on the table with Levy, but I'm all in for him now. Balls deep.

I'm not convinced with either TBH, but then again, I don't think there is an AM realistically available that I am convinced by. I have suggested Felipe Anderson a few times, but I'm nit convinced by him either he's just the best of an above average bunch IMO and I have concerns about how he performs in big games, which is where we need to improve the most.

Ah because only in fifa can you get actually good players for £60m:rolleyes:

And dont bring up wages. Barkley and Zaha would probably be on at least £60k/wk each. You can combine those to get a quality player in

Really? Pray tell who we could bring in for £60m let alone Levy sanctioning such a deal? lol

Out of maybe obtainable targets. Anderson is a good shout. Also Youri Tielemans and Hakan Calhanoglu. Those are two others that I think could be class...

I'd be really happy if we got Zaha though. Barkley... less so.

I still like the look of Timo Werner for a 21 year old too...

We can and should do better than Zaha or Barkley as AMs. How i'd love a player to create things in those tight spaces and dribble in tight situations. Surely we can scout someone better than our usual MOTD highlights players.

Yes, MOTD signings like Toby and Wanyama have done shite for us.

It's going to be tough this summer. We genuinely are at a stage where only the very best players will improve our first team and we are not yet in the position to attract those players by paying the type of wages most of them we want.

Every time I think "maybe" about Barkley I watch him and am underwhelmed. He's got good feet, some ability for sure, but he rarely shows up in the big occasions, suggests to me he's not got the mentality under pressure. And as much as we (ok I) criticise our lot for their bumbling at times, the one thing that players like Alli, Kane, Eriksen even fucking Son have is great mentality - they can bumble in the easy games same as big ones but they repeatedly come up with the goods in big games same as they do the easy ones. Every time I see Barkley play I just want Fekir more, he's probably a bit less busy but he's definitely cleverer and he can play up front too. And gettable for less than Barkley I'm sure.

Barkley actually has more goals and assists v the top 6 this season then everyone one of our AMs except Alli (who he is tied with).

Fekir's record is acyually poor against the top sides in France (Monaco, PSG & Maresille). In his standout season (where he got double figures for both goals and assists) he managed 1 assist and 1 goal in 6 games and since then hasn't scored or assisted against any of those 3 in the 4 (plus 1 sub apps) games he has played since. That's just the league, he has failed to score or assist against those teams in 3 cup games and didn't score or assist in 3 (plus 2 subs apps) games in the champions league either.

Edit: it sounds like I am a Barkely fan, but I'm really not sold on him.

I like all 3 players you have mentioned but, IMO, we need a creative player that is direct and has decent speed IMO, and neither Tielemans nor Calhanoglu fit the bill and Werner isnt an AM.

If we sold Dembele, Tielemans would be top of my list of players I would want to replace him and if we sold Lamela then Calhanoglu would be on that list to replace him IMO.

Well Zaha certainly fulfils the dribbling part, although I agree we need more intelligent creativity and I doubt Zaha would give us that.

Emil Forsberg might have been an interesting target had he not signed a contract extension. As a result, this suggestion (and post) serves very little use.

He 's pretty inconsistent though isn't he? I know that is to be expected for a 20 year old, but I'm not sure it's what we need right now. He also loses the ball more than Son, so not sure about him unless it was for his potential.

How many goals/assists does Barkley have v the top 6 ?

Maybe I am being unfair judging him on games against the best, as our players were pretty shit in the same Liverpool and manu games I've recently watched Barkley in, but I was still very disappointed with him in those games.

The ideal signing would be Pulisic. Can cover for both Dele and Eriksen, plays for a good attacking side now, has scored in champions league, and is the one US player that would really open up that market to Spurs

I doubt that he would want to come here from Dortmund to back up Dele/Eriksen, but this is a wish list.

TBF, most of our players have looked very poor v those same two teams this year. Here are the stats for Barkley and our AMs:

games (mins) goals assists
Barkley 8 (710) 1 4
Alli 7 (614) 4 1
Eriksen 8 (713) 1 2
Son 7 (429) 1 1
Lamela 2 (180) 0 1

Last season Lamela was our highest performer v top 6 in 9 games (558 mins) he scored 2 assisted 5. Eriksen scored 1 assist 4 in 10 games (878) last season.

Barkley and Zaha would probably cost very close to that. You're pretty much saying that Levy would sanction spending it on them but not on a single player
