Bad bump.

How so? Trix said that we had been pushing for him and his agent is now reportedly trying to get him a move before the end of the window. We have also heard from Trix today that players are being offered around now so this may tie into that. Dont see anything wrong with bumping this on the back of that at all.

When was this? As far as I can see we’ve not had any new info or links to him today. People get quite rightly frustrated when people bump threads like this, thinking there may have been news.

It’s not against the rules or anything or a big deal, just think it’s mildly annoying.

Romero plays right for us because of Dier, but at Atalanta was the centre of the three.

Is this not due to how they are being played?

At Atalanta did Romero have the freedom to move forward and attack the ball?

With us it's the wide CBs that do that with Dier sitting

Jan 10th Trix said "This window we are pushing for De Vrij."

So this latest news combined with previous ITK is very relevant for us and nothing wrong with mentioning it imo.

Think its a fair bump. Told at start of window we were trying for him. Hes now supposedly been put up for sale. It's fair to assume if he was one we were trying for, we would be all over it.

Conte's back three operates differently to Atlanta's. Conte likes his wide CBs pushing up into midfield, with the middle CB dropping deeper to hit long passes. At Atlanta as the middle CB, Romero stepped up into midfield.

The reason we need De Vrij and Dier was shown against Chelsea over two legs IMO. Dier and Romero injured and we had Tanganga at RCB and Sanchez as the ball playing CB. Chelsea's first goal in the first leg came when neither were comfortable on the ball under pressure and Tanganga gave it away.

True but our transfer strategy never lasts more than 5 minutes without changing. Whichever bargain option comes available we're in there rummaging. We're the people who hang out in the meat isle in Asda waiting for the staff to reduce the meat.

There is a difference between that, and identifying 4 or 5 options for the positions you want to strengthen.

There is indeed. If you read Trix latest post you'll see we're sniffing around the latest bargains being put in front of us.

Dier has done well under Conte, but De Vrij almost certainly still starts over him imo. De Vrij is arguably one of the best liberos in football currently and is an absolute Conte favorite. Having him would absolutely bring us up a level.

With De Vrij turning 30 next week and heading into the last year of his contact, one last move with a high contract makes sense for both player and agent (Raiola). He'd also probably appreciate being able to share minutes with Dier to prolong his career. Definitely see this as one to watch both this window and next.

De Vrij played in the Davies role for conte.

You would think if De Vrij has suddenly become available we will be going hard to sign him
