I thought a lot of it was down to tactics. We left one man isolated and over ran in MF with the other 2 midfielders to far up and wide not influencing the game. We had so much width but didn’t use it once and there was zero movement.
I did wonder, because on paper a midfield of Lyons-Foster, White and Devine looks decent (and well suited to Ange's style of football).

I see Sam Amo-Ameyaw is already getting first team appearances for Southampton in pre season and looking very promising 🙃

Good for him, but I don't think he stood out for us at youth level really, and realistically wasn't ever going to break in to our first team. You can't keep everyone.

I was also surprised that the likes of Rodon, Spencer, Scarlett, Austin, Whiteman didn't get 45 minutes at Stevenage?

Maksim Paskotši came on to replace Brooklyn Lyons-Foster in central defence in the second half of the friendly at Stevenage last weekend.
Thanks for the info. I was at the game and had no idea as they were camped in their half and too far to see from the Spurs stand. Also no tannoy announcements.

Southampton are having to sell a lot of their u21’s and u18’s at the moment.

Was BLF in central defence? I had assumed with Dorrington and Sayers also in the side that he had been pushed up into midfield again.

I wasn't at the game but read a report on the superhotspur.com blog. This is how the team lined up:

"Spurs lined-up with Aaron Maguire in goal, while Max Robson, Alfie Dorrington, Charlie Sayers and Will Andiyapan started in defence. Captain Brooklyn Lyons-Foster and Harvey White started in central midfield, as Damola Ajayi and Yago Santiago started out on the flanks, either side of CAM Alfie Devine. Nile John would once again lead the line for Spurs...."

Reading the match report and trying to work out who substituted for whom, I suspect BLF played CM in the first half and CB in the second.

Be bad news to lose someone so experienced

Best of luck to him. Always seemed like he was far too experienced for the youth setup at Spurs but hopefully he had the intended impact during his time with the academy.

@Lilywhite Rose this might be a silly question but will this mean more games for the U21 players compared to previous seasons? I always noticed that U21 games would be spaced out and it meant players would wait 2+ weeks for another competitive game.

Our youth product is hopelessly behind all of the other top 6 clubs, our academy frankly is embarrassing.

The best player in 10 years since Kane is either Harry Winks or Oliver Skipp and the only other legitimate PL talent in Madueke and Edwards left for pennies due to horrific mismanagement. Yeah we should be embarrassed. We have the best training center in the country and our youth product is hardly above the standard of most Championship sides.
You forgot to mention that we're in one of the best catchment areas for talent in the whole world.
