We have the best training ground and have been told that would result in our youth teams becoming better , is this the case

I had the misfortune to watch this game. Before I start why the hell was it not on Spursplay? Why have I paid £45? This was presented by WHU TV! The game was at Spurs!
The game:
Firstly the team
Bloedorn
Andiyapan Bryan-Waugh(CB) Sayers(CB) Linton
Abbott Heaps Bloxham
McKnight Williams Owen.
Result 0-8
Where do I start? The stand out for me was the lack of character, guts and yes anger. If I was in that defence I would give a right telling off to all the 4 defenders to get their act together and bloody mark properly. Which manager in their right mind would play Bryan-Waugh centre-back. 5ft 7in.
no positional sense and a bloody awful passer. Sayers starting well but 'lost' interest and literally gave up.
Linton and Andiyapan (like Bryan-Waugh) are 2nd year scholars and if this is the best they can do what is the point in keeping them on? There are loads of 'so called' highly credited coaches in the academy and if they think this sort of defensive display (pissing about at the back then losing it all the time ) is okay (they are learning!) well I don't agree, it is shattering their confidence. The midfield was non-existent though Abbott worked tirelessly and did okay. Up front I felt so sorry for Williams (he is potentially a really good player) he got sod all service.
I dislike criticising young players but really this performance lacked pride and courage. Credit to WHU but they are a useful youth team but no more.
Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea all have good first team squads but they also have cracking youth teams. Spurs are really going to suffer this year at youth level. Having the best training ground and facilities means nothing without good quality players. There is something seriously wrong at this level at Spurs.

Since Spurs didn't put on the tournament, the organizers probably wanted to broadcast it in a way that anyone that wanted to watch it could. Why would Spurs pay the extra money to produce something that's already being broadcast elsewhere?

SpursPlay will be in use for U18 + U23 PL games, relax fella.

But ultimately it’s about producing players I’d say Tanganga Skipp Scarlett and hopefully Devine in last couple years is a decent return. Not saying it’s perfect and today was obviously poor but I don’t think things are that bad. Bryan Waugh at CB was baffling he looked tiny.

I went to AFC Wimbledon today. A few ex Spurs. Jonnie Jackson their manager, Marsh and Paris maghoma in midfield (both looked pretty solid pros). I was struck by the level and quality of football being so much better than I remember it being when Wycombe were in that division a while ago. Wimbledon play pretty good stuff. I wouldn’t be adverse to us sending a few loans their way. Although they had a couple of brentford ones already there so I’m not sure if they already have something tied up with them.

I agree that there is a problem. Hard to tell if John McDermotts' departure was a cause or a symptom. Having the best facilities whilst not having the best of anything else doesn't cut it any more. We clearly do not pay the going rate for signing the best players at 16 ( Allegedly Chelsea are paying £10k a week for 3 years to sign 16 year old Tyler Dibling from Southampton whilst we allegedly would not pay £6k a week to sign Sam Amo Ameyaw.) We need an urgent review of the wage structure for young players to keep it competitive.

Also we need to review our strategy for signing players 15/17 years of age. West Ham's 4 goal striker today, Callum Marshall, only signed for them last January from Northern Ireland. How did we miss him ? Is our scouting system adequate. Someone needs to do a full scale review. David Pleat?

Just been chatting to Nicky cowley Portsmouth asst manager , he has a great connection with Ryan mason and was advised about taking Dane scarlet and how ready he was for Portsmouth so obviously Portsmouth are excited about him .also apparently Ryan said he wasn’t impressed by nuno as a manager but when I asked him about conte he smiled and Ryan thinks Antonio is a genius . He told me that he will keep me updated about Dane ?

i just realised that Portsmouth also have our Josh Oluwayemi as their back up GK. Hopefully that should help with the transition somewhat

Seeing Chelsea signing Chukwuemeka only further disappoints me in our own recruitment of young English talent this summer. They have signed some top English talent with him and the lads from Arsenal/Southampton/Brighton. Why are we not investing in youth English talent? I thought this was one of Paraticis big strengths (young talent).

Still hoping for Ronnie Edwards and Alex Scott but doubtful we will move for them.

Devine > Chukwuemeka

This may well be true but we have been pretty bad with managing our homegrown situation the last couple of years. It’s just disappointing after hearing reports all season of Paratici looking to rectify this and us looking at specific youngsters in the football league for so long, then not to seemingly make a move for them. This may be purely down to them committing all the resources into what Conte wants but surely we should be able to do both, plan for the future and present.
