i don't think @vintagespurs was implying that binks was signed to replace tomiyasu, just that it could end up working out that way, similar to madueke/bergwijn.
Look, that's what I took out of it, and actually, I thought binks was being signed as a replacement on the back of that post because it's logical. I just happened to have looked into it afterwards, for an unrelated reason and found it not to be the case. The post literally used the world replaced. so I don't think it's crazy to interpret it like that, nor do I think to think that way is anything but a logical assumption to make. My point was not to have a go, it was to inform as some people might find it of interest and I think it adds context to the move that was unknown to me until yesterday.

I made my argument to that post about why I disagree with on vintagespurs' position, which is a valid position, but the point of the post you are replying wasn't to make something out of it, or continue that conversation, that is why it wasn't an individual response to vintagespurs. It's an entirely separate point and just extra context to Binks' move.

It wasn't my case that when Montreal/Bologna signed Binks they did so with the thought that he would replace Tomiyasu or similarly PSV with Noni/ Bergwijn but just that it was ironic that we might sign players who might end up being replaced by ex Spurs players. Having said that I can see why @COYS makes the connection.

It is just a shame we can't hang on to some of our most highly rated youth players. In a similar vein it was disappointing to see that Elliot Thorpe is leaving. We appear to have treated him with kidd gloves for the last few years while he developed physically so he did not get as much game time as others. Now that he is more physically developed and able to compete with menl he leaves. I believe ManU. did something similar ro McTominay who was very small until he had a growth spurt in his late teens and then he just suddenly arrived as a 1st team player.

I wish Thorpe the best of luck and he is perfectly entitled to leave at the end of his contract but i think the next year will tell how good a player he will be.

I think he's very bright. If he's introduced in the right situations then he could quickly become a no-brainer. If, on the other hand, we chuck him on when the team are struggling and he's out of position or given a job to do that doesn't come naturally then his confidence could ebb away and his momentum could be badly affected. Unlike some I always had reservations about Onomah but my goodness me Poch didn't help. The biggest difference between John and Onomah is that John is a busy bee. He's always on the move. He's always trying to affect the game in some way. Onomah was more considered, I would say too considered. For those that don't know what I mean, I mean that Onomah could be a bit ponderous, a bit restrained, a bit timid. I think John has the quick brain, the quick feet and the aggressiveness to attack space, play the pass, carry the ball which unsettles the opposition and creates opportunities for others. He doesn't just move in straight lines (like Onomah) he nips in and out of channels and pockets of space. Basically I like him a lot.
Thanks for sharing…sounds like Grealish ?

U23 beat Ramsgate 6-0. Our No 10 got a hatrick and was sensational apparently. My guess it was Donley

oh and U16 beat someone 8-1. I think we have another hot striker someone told me about him but can’t remember the name. Oliver Someone?

I think it might be Oli Irow

Was at the game…. They were all very impressive and ramsgate first team couldnt get near them. Plus, Marcel Lavinier stopped and had a photo with my little lad who is beaming now.
Markanday was brilliant.

Markanday get the hatrick ? Thought he was really impressive end of last season. Hoping we see him in seniors on Wednesday.

Boundaries between first team and U23 groups seem very fluid at the moment. Lavinier and Markanday, both highly rated by the previous management, don’t seem to have been involved with the first team at all, Okedina, Bennett and Etete who were with the first team have dropped down to the U23s, while the likes of Cesay, Fagan-Walcott, Lyons-Foster and Mundle have stepped up. Then there are late returners such as Parrott, Devine and presumably Paskotsi joining the first team group. Still no sign of Cirkin or a few others. Not sure we can read much into who is with which group at the moment.

I only saw 20 minutes of the first half yesterday but, albeit that it was a preseason friendly against lower league opposition, I was quite impressed by Paskotši in that cameo. Looked decent on the ball and surprisingly quick and agile. Given that he is primarily a centre back, he looked pretty comfortable at full back.

Interesting decision to deploy him as RB, when he's left footed.

Bet its all quite fluid at minute in terms of which tier group a few are in, and no doubt the finalised first team squad will also influence who is needed to provide cover/back up....

Thought NJ DS were very good along with both of the “fullbacks” looking quite promising I think on youth front particularly with conference to cover and hopefully leave first team fresh.....

I'm seeing Palace under 23s play Dulwich tomorrow, so hopefully he'll get a run out then as well. It'll be good to see him.
He just played an absolute peach of a pass to set the winger away who then created the fifth goal
