i wonder if you have to have an iq test before you work at Chelsea. They must do something to keep it so low.

Bad challenge from Devine but fuck me, the lad's 16 years old. For Drinkwater to react like that, then proceed to give it large and provoke a 15 man tussle is pathetic.
That probably answers my question as to why he's nowhere near the Chelsea first team, he's an utter bellend.

Edit. As an aside, I thought Devine looked really good. Confident, quick and with a great touch.
Got a bit of fight about him too, which I liked.

I don’t mind seeing challenges like that from Devine personally, we do miss a bit of grit at times. I Also like the fact that Etete is straight in after the kick out from Drinkwater.

Back to the football, what a header from Scarlett and what a ball from Harvey!

You think he'd be ready for a loan to the championship? Obvious option being Norwich.

maybe, though norwich have a lot of midfielders already so he'd probably struggle for games. an upper league 1 loan might be better, somewhere like charlton perhaps.

I find it weird fully fledged professionals, 30 and 38 yes old playing in a development u23 team.

they ain’t coming back from injury sosurely they are riddled with injuries, as most clubs would just stick the u16’s in to see how they fair (staggered about goalkeeper situation as I know Chelsea have plenty of them).

baffling

I think we have been playing Danny Rose in a lot of these games also. The rule is 2 over 23s I think.

To be fair I'd have been fuming if that was a challenge on me. Definitely would have squared up to him ? Career ending.

Agree with the poster who said you need to expect a bit of a flavour back.

Our attacking quality coming through is really encouraging i must say.

I'd be more upset if Drinkwater had made that Devine tackle to be honest. Filthy from Drinkwater, but not dangerous at least

Drinkwater’s career ended a long time ago though so that tackle would hace made little difference. It took a complete nosedive when he signed for Chelsea. There was definitely that frustration in there too lashing out like that at a 16 year old kid.

Anyone know the 2 U16's that mourinho referred to today as being injured?

that was just jose being jose, i would be surprised if he could even name two of our u16s.

that's not me taking a shot either before someone wets themselves, there's no need for jose to know anything about players as young as u16 level.

Yeh completely. Was a possible career (such as it is) ender. Devine got off lightly really.

came across this website never seen it before enjoying some of the interviews with old youth players

I had fun trying to identify everyone in Charlie Sheringham's team picture. I've got most of them.

87ca6155-7c43-496f-8501-668d49792e6a.jpeg

Back row L>R: Claude Stefan Seanla, Jacques Maghoma, Luke Prosser, ?????, Nathan Peprah Annan, David Button, ????, Lewis Dark.
Front Row: Simon Dawkins, Charlie Lee*, John Kyriacou, Charlie Sheringham, Max Porter, Richard Heller, Isa Hussain. Coach: Micky Hazzard.

Charlie Lee was part of the age group above this one so I'm not quite sure why he's in this picture. Right back and current fitness coach Chris Riley isn't in this pick but was part of this group. Leigh Mills and Stuart Lewis joined this group after this picture was taken, from Swindon and Arsenal respectively.

So many of this group played for England youth. Maghoma, Riley, Annan, Button, Dawkins, Mills and Lewis. Its a pity that injury ended or restricted the career of most of them.

An interesting aside is that Isa Hussain was one of the most ridiculously skillful players we ever produced. He never played professionally but he did forge a career as a stand in for players like Messi when it came to performing tricks in adverts or motion capture in games.
