Looks like Devine and Scarlett may feature today. Good to see them both involved. Not surprised about Devine being a 'signing' but impressed ,but not surprised, Mourinho has seen enough in Scarlett to potentially give him a little try out.

I doubt anything will come from it for the rest of the season, but it's a good show of faith, and as Scarlett missed so much of last year through injury I'm really pleased that a) he has managed to get back on track b)it hasn't really affected him

Striker. As I've said before that year group has a lot of talent and he is definitely one of them. While some may not appear to have kicked on us much, though hopefully they can find their old selves this year, there are definitely some proper players in that age group and the one after.

A question for youth watchers.

Do you think young players follow tactical instructions better or not as well as older more experienced players? Or does age not come into it?

I ask because I'm thinking about how some managers have a reputation of working better with younger players (like Poch*) whereas JM has the reputation of working better with older players.

*in Poch's case, I think he works better with younger players but his ability to integrate a new group of young players into his squad is not good, so it's an interesting perception.

The academy players can be happy with how they did today. White & Cirkin looked the most comfortable and settled with the 1st team. Devine showed some nice touches and won a couple tackles. Hope they all get another runout next week. Would be good for a couple of them to break into the 1st team.

Easy to see why White and Cirkin have been involved in the first team training for a few months - think we'll see a fair amount of them, especially at the start of this season.

Can definitely see white and Cirkin being involved a lot this season, thought Clarke looked good and as a squad option could be useful
