Edwards is averaging a goal involvement every other game in Portugal these days. He’d fetch £10mil comfortably.

You’re missing the point though. That’s just a small sample of the players who’ve left for basically nothing. We consistently fail to give young players exposure and therefore hardly make anything off our academy. Not all of them are going to become £30million players. But a fair few could become £5mil - £10mil players. And they’re leaving for pennies if that.
Just a guessing game . If Markanday was as good as some think, a premier lge club would have been in for him.
What was that stat from last week. 97% of players from pl academies have not

I don't understand what that means though. What is a loan network? Is it meaningful in why clubs are choosing to loan Chelsea youngsters instead of ours?

Surely the reason comparable talent at these clubs get better loans, is because it's a better deal for the loaning club, and for the player to renew the contract?

KWP played no football for 3 years, leaves for £10m, and is arguably better than our two RBs who cost £40m - let alone Aurier who we just paid off who cost another £25m. £65m spent and they're all worse than the RB we produced and left for peanuts.

If I were to guess the problem with loosing prospects? I'd say we want too much money from the loaning club in fees and wages, whilst paying the players too little.

It's a completely false economy not to pay your best young players well enough to have control of their contract, and their willingness to go on loan, rather than wind the deal down to force a move.

Across the club we seem to have no idea how to correctly value talent. We used to be good at it, but for 5 years we've been awful. Ndombele is on £200k p/w and training alone. Markanday has left because 12 months ago when he renewed we didn't pay him enough to tempt him into a 4 year or 3+1 year deal.

I'd guess that he knew we wouldn't underwrite enough of his wages to get him a decent loan. So only signed a short deal.

Hard to blame Paratici and Conte, as they inherited these contract situations. But woeful from Levy that after 20 years he's built such a shit show of a sporting organisation.

Hopefully that all improves, but deep down I just know he'll piss everyone off and mess it all up.
I don't disagree with what you've said.

For clarity what I mean is that Chelsea firstly pay their youths more money and the players are willing to stick around because they are earning a big buck. But secondly, and to my point, their technical staff have got a lot of contacts and influence amongst other clubs and some of the affiliated clubs like vitesse and can cut good deals for the loaning clubs (reduced payment terms etc). It all works to get more youth players on loan where they can increase their value and be integrated into the first team squad or be sold/loaned at profit.

I’m not going to mention any names. But just interested what people would think if an academy player was constantly liking anti Spurs tweets or insta posts ? Cause I know how it’s making me feel. I can appreciate a player joining say at 12 or 13 and they already have an allegiance to another London club. But you’d just think they’d show a bit of respect and gratitude for the opportunity they have.

Can somebody tell me about Thomas Bloxham? He scored today and I think had an assist in the last match.

Smallish number 10. Very skillful. Has scored some absolute belters. He's slowly catching his peers up size wise but for the longest time he was half the size of everyone else.

Kids can be stupid but he needs a few things explaining to him, like not to bite the hand that feeds you.

I think you should name him, so we can all be pissed off with him too! ?

Thank you :) I read his biography on the official site. Very good stats last year as an u16 with many assist and goal. In so similar as the stats Ryan Mason and Harry Kane had. Can he be compared in style with any of them. ?

I was once at Hotspur Way for an u18s game and after the match had finished wondered into the foyer which was showing Everton vs Arsenal on the big screen TV. This was a season when us and Arsenal were battling neck and neck for a top 4 finish. Danny Welbeck scored a later winner or equaliser for Arsenal which lead to an eruption of celebration from a decent percentage of our young academy players who were watching on from within the heart of Hotspur Way. This simply wouldn’t happen at a Barcelona or Real Madrid you’d be out. Would it even happen at Hale End or Cobham… doubtful. I don’t know how club can approach this issue but it’s not great.

It’s a weird situation really. Like I said I can understand someone joining at 12 or 13 and having ties to another club. I just think they should be told to not put it on display publicly in any way or on social media. You can’t really tell them to stop supporting haha. I just wonder how much it actually would effect their commitment in a crunch game especially if it’s against the team they support.

I agree completely. Its massively disrespectful. I wouldn't have it. I don't expect these kids to switch allegiances (although an outright hostility to our club should definitely be tempered) but some decorum and respect is really a basic thing. Once you've left you can do what you want, say what you want, celebrate what you want, even if it is ungrateful but while you're playing for us and supposedly trying to create a legacy with us you celebrate our victories and mourn our losses.
