Binks is pretty much having a working holiday/gap year in Canada. I can’t blame him tbh and the women are very cute.

It sounds to me like it was his decision to move and I would not blame any player that would rather play first team football over u23 football because it is that bad.
But he went to the MLS rather than Germany. And I don't think anyone even in here thought he was first team ready. Odd.

I was shocked at the move and he was not first team ready now but he was on his way and I think he would have made the first team faster than say Tanganga has done at the age of 20.

Cheers for that. I was hoping that might explain it, but it's just left me more confused.

He said 3 times - he left (after 12 years) because of "Henry and his coaching staff" and to play in a "great league".

Why not have 18 months on loan, then fight for a first team place?

Would love to find out what went on here.

Good luck to the lad, but still baffled by it.
f**k him then

Everyone saying why wouldn't he just go on loan - maybe because he spent the last several years watching our most talented youth players not go on loan, not play much football, stagnate, and get passed up by players they were clearly better than only a few years ago because they'vebeen playing actual football?

I hope the powers at Tottenham see this and manage to create better links with the clubs abroad where our younger players can go and get that exposure and give us the opportunity to bring them back more first team ready

Yeah, Thierry Henry and his world class coaching ability!
Or work harder to prove yourself to an actual world class coach like Jose.
I get people are upset but people always do this whenever someone leaves. Question their mentality for not sticking around at a PL club, where there is a 1% chance of making, and labelling them as quitters.

How many are we really going to bring through. Poch brought 1 in 5 years, and apparently Mourinho has an even worse rep and has already done one, and that's in Binks' position. Why would you stick around?

Yeah, I do understand your point but I just think that there would have been better options available to him.
Although saying that, what do I know.

It’s around 1% when he signs as a 7/8 yr old. His chances were much higher the day before he decided to leave.

Anyway, it’s a very, very strange move. Unless he has a deal already arranged to go elsewhere, which is what I suspect, it shows a big lack of ambition. MLS sides wouldn’t make a dent in League One. I’m sure he’d have progressed more playing regular football for a Championship/League One club, even if meant not as a loanee from us.

So with Parrott out of the picture at the moment, what about Kion Etete?

Am I missing something here? What has happened to this superb thread on the Spurs Academy sides? Spurs Youth played West Ham on Saturday and no comments have been made on the 1-3 result. Is there a new thread elsewhere?

There is a lot of contributors to the downfall imo. Key participants moving on or getting banned. A growing level of toxicity towards academy players across this forum. And a bizarre youth policy shown by the club in the back half of Poch's time at the club, were we hung onto mediocre players for too long and anybody with any potential stagnated in a developmental wasteland.

And part of the problem is that this has become, at times, a 'wine about youth policy thread' which has become harder to enjoy and learn from.

Exactly, because there wasnt really anything else to talk about. It all became too negative, every way round.
