Yeah the thing about Sanchez is if you play a style that allows him to be aggressive he flourishes and he’s shown that here as well, if you play a system in which you force him deep you are essentially exposing him without the benefits.

Most players need to be played in the right way to get the best out of them. With few exceptions the vast majority of players are flawed in one way or another and can look complete crap if those flaws are exposed. Today Sanchez was allowed to be aggressive, you had players dropping behind him and covering, Skipp and Hojbjerg helped a lot here so it’s not strange that he played well.

Will he start with Romero? It’s hard to say but our CB partnership should be whoever gives us the best balance not necessarily whose ‘better’ which is actually often a very abstract thing in football, better at what?

The thing that's surprised me most today and in pre season with Sanchez is not just that his defending has been great but his passing has been terrific.

It's like he's had some private lessons with Toby. Either that or he has all of a sudden a new lease of confidence to go for the long passes over the top and into the channels.

Amazing victory. I always thought Sanchez was a good player. He is at least good enough to be our third CB behind Romero and someone new.

The DM duo of PEH and Skipp are amazing. Lucas Moura is the MOM but it is a long season, I still think we need a new player in his position other than Gil or Steven.

Do you guys think we still need Tomiyasu now? Tanganga has been great. I would say one CB (I hope Laporte), one AM and one striker (if Kane leaves) at least and we will be top 4 guarantee.

Anyway nothing better than this as a new fan: beating the defending champion. When is our next game again? I hope it is tomorrow lol.

Brilliant performance and result to build on! Thought we handled the game after we scored so much better than we were doing last season.

Very Important win today ! Lucas Moura MOTM for me , I honestly think this is his best game for us (barr the Ajax game) , perhaps in the PL. Hopefully he continue to put out consistent performances like this. Next game is crucial as we"ll get an idea of how the team will face up against mid tier opposition. Those games make or break our top 4 chances.

With that though it’s much easier to pass well when you know the passes you are making. Simple coaching can make even mediocre passers effective. It’s just about drilling and understanding your options with the ball when you get it.

wow. top 4 guaranteed,

you really are new to supporting spurs. - we will have crashed out of the europe conference in a fortnight and managed to swap Kane for Frazier Campbells brother.

Enjoy the day. Dont allow yourself to hope.

Richards absolutely taking Neville to task about the Kane interview and showing him up to be a complete hypocrite giving the Pogba example.

I am honestly so fucking glad so many people have told him, Neville is a great pundit but he can be such a little weasel and he shit like this needs to be highlighted.

Then you definitely weren’t paying much attention.

Ref had a top game today, wasn’t handing out cards for fun, let play flow, and wasn’t buying into Grealish and Sterling falling all over the place.

Many refs last season would have booked Tanganga far earlier, allowing Grealish and Sterling to run riot.

Knocking a referee’s overall performance because you can identify one or two occasions where he made a call you didn’t like or missed something in active play is tiresome.

…were you watching the wrong channel?
I was at the game and it seemed like the ref was heavily biased towards city. Maybe it was because I was in the stadium and we were on his back but it really looked like we weren’t getting any decisions and they were getting everything

I’m having a quick beer in Bluecoats after that amazing performance. My first as a season ticket holder. What a performance. Amazing atmosphere. Probably the best atmosphere I’ve witnessed at Spurs. Well done everyone! COYS.
