Each to their own but I’d be concerned that you didn’t seem to notice how many times he gave the ball away or made the wrong choice of pass, all comes with experience so it’s no issue at all as the kid is clearly talented and has great feet but against an average Ipswich side he in my opinion looked a bit out of his depth. He did put in a great cross at the end but then 8 yards out he hit such a soft shot at the keeper, just think he needs a loan to develop his experience and whilst he keeps developing physically. Compare him to say Cirkin for example I think Cirkin actually looked more composed and comfortable, obviously they play different positions but that’s how is saw it.

Do you think JC is good enough to be a squad player for us this season? I think he’s a talent for sure but I don’t think he’s quite there yet and rather than barely play a minute for us all season it would be much better if he gets loaned out with regular game time to develop.
He definitely needs to play. He is young. A loan would be good. When he was at Leeds last season, he hardly played. That was a wasted year. Hopefully this season we could do better to further his development.

He was good, but I think you're overselling it a bit.

It's Ipswich, and preseason, and preseason performances are a super unreliable way to judge ability. He'd much less space and have a much bigger physical confrontation in the PL, and we are not sure how well he can stand up to that, similarly today we played with lots of movement and without Kane, but when he comes back he will be expected to bring a lot of crosses from that position. So positive for sure, but we will see.
Yea fair points, I said earlier I think he’ll be a great option in cups and against anyone below top 8 teams but really positive for sure.

I do genuinely hope we sign a top class RWB like MD level rather than some unknown unproven guy from European league as Gedson looked more than capeable but our 1st choice RWB needs to be of top top quality especially the way we play

Winks is looking less and less attractive (in football manners). White and Devine coming up and playing well.

It makes you wonder if it's not better to cash in.
Talk about overstating things. Winks was good today as well, but White and Devine are possibly good enough against league 1 opposition, though Ipswich did dominate possession second half, that's all you can realistically get in terms of ability out of this game.

Characteristics yes, but there really isn't much else. Oduwa and Georgiou would be established prem players if preseason was an accurate barometer of ability.

I thought game wasn't great, like watching International football, nobody played bad but passing was slow suppose its about getting fitness back.. So hard to take much from game except Ipswich are a poor side.. A win is a win no injuries & Everton could only draw with Blackpool 3-3

How did we set up today? 4231 with Foyth at RB snd Davies LB??
352 with Gedson right wing back and Sess left wing back, Davies left inside centre back and Foyth inside right centre back
Alli up top with Son

Am I overreacting by thinking gedson is a better rb/rwb than everyone else we’ve been linked to bar Doherty? We def need a rb but at the very least I hope to see gedson competing for that role in addition to his versatility in midfield and on the wings.
I think the exact same mate. And I don’t think it’s overreacting either. This is a guy who’s a Portugal u21 international and has an estimated TV of about £50m! So it’s not surprising he’s starting to show his quality and Jose has found a position which plays to his strengths.

Managed to catch the last half hour or so of that and I have to say, Gedson really impressed. Full of running and intent, along with a great tackle in the box late on. Could be an important squad member this year.
White and Cirkin look decent and Clarke has certainly got potential but needs a good loan and a full season of games under his belt.
Nice to see some of the other kids get some time too, even if it did make me feel so, so old!

Onwards and upwards.

Nice easy watching, some good pre-season performances and young players getting a chance in with the first team. all in all a good run out.

I thought young Dane Scarlett did well to get in the scoring position he did. He was either impeded or wasn’t strong enough to shake off the defender but was still so close. One worth looking out for.

ipswich didn’t offer much so it wasn’t much more than a training game, always good to win though.

With a name like Dane Scarlett he’s going to succeed whatever he does. Next Spurs n.o9 or a filmstar, what a name.
