Football Authorities are a joke! This is exactly the same situation of Leyton Orient game 5/6 hours before kick off and they can’t decide to Postpone the game or not.

Premier league have really backed themselves into a corner by apparently breaking there own COVID rules and letting Manchester City postpone their game the other night. Pretty sure they could have fielded a team of some description. Which the rules seem to indicate you need to do if you have 14 fit players. Now Fulham or any other club who have a few players ruled out by COVID can justifiably say we can’t play the games.

Not sure we are at a point in premier league where we need to stop playing. However the cynical side of me did chuckle this morning at the contrasting views coming out about this issue after last nights games. Big Sam wanting a break (of course he does gives him time to work in training ground with WBA team). Ole and Gary Neville against having a break again of course they don’t want one. Ole is having another one of his purple patches and Manchester United are in form team at moment. Any break could disrupt that and also allow teams/rivals to regroup and come back stonger.

it's not about whether city had 14 players fit or not.

because of the quick turnaround in games and subsequent need for testing they couldn't guarantee that those who came back with negative tests don't actually have covid because the outbreak amongst their group only happened very recently. they originally had two cases, that then jumped to 7 just a couple of days later despite them testing negative beforehand, that 7 could easily be a lot more now. if their game wasn't until the weekend they could have isolated everyone and done multiple rounds of testing but due to the close proximity of the games that wasn't possible, it would have been reckless to send out a team to play under those circumstances.

I think that a compilation of mid 90s Spurs games should be prescribed to remind some of the moaners on SC how far we've come.
But only the shitty defeats. I wouldn’t give some of these fools the luxury of a 0-0 draw let alone seeing Jurgen and Sheringham scoring triffic winners.

Please be postponed. Please.

A break would probably do some of this threads regulars some good*

In hindsight, the Holidays is that time of the year where people gather and playing 2-3 games throughout the holidays is just asking for people getting infected. Either they stop football for 2 weeks or they ban the players from celebrating with their family

Would be best not to play. The last thing Spurs need is an outbreak of COVID.

If it's cancelled when will it get re arranged? We are still in 3 cup competitions just now with fixtures going to be coming thick and fast into the new year! Would rather we play now than play every 2 or so days again at the been of the season.

If it does get postponed and we get a few others the same it will be a nightmare. Short view is it will be great to get a break, long term it will mess us up even more IMO

Fixtures booked in for 10/11/12/13/14/15 May. Players will cope with 7 games in 7 days

The thing is, as much as I hope the game goes ahead I’d be very surprised if it does. The precedent has been set with the Cuty cancellation and the PL will not want to be accused of double standards and certainly won’t want to be seen to be favouring the big clubs.

I can only see one outcome

You would of thought the footballing authorities would of sought medical/scientific advise regarding the busy festive schedule weeks ago and attempted to ease the congestion somehow.

Just seems so foolish to have a plan that was essentially just hoping for the best.

Everyone should have been banned from celebrating with their extended family. Well in tier 4 anyway, including me and including London (so where the Fulham/Spurs players are)

I complied. Footballers should easily have been expected to comply to.

Not sure what they could have done, these cases are merely a symptom of the country and it's people - Blame the government, everyone is essentially following their lead.

The Premier League will do what the Premier League does. Stick their heads in the sand, ignore everything until it's too late, fail to do what common sense dictates because cash is king and then, eventually, when the words 'lock, horse and bolted' have long since echoed into the distance, take 'decisive' action.

With all due respect, that was 20-30 years ago. At what point do we stop using that rationale? Another 10 years? How about 20? Maybe never
