I have not seen ticket prices for these matches - but I suspect they will be quite a bit higher than an average ticket to WHL. So, there is some expectation that the quality of football will be more than just going through the motions.
I am still waiting for ticket prices for Spurs matches - but to give you an example of what the organizers of this International Champions Cup are doing:
Thursday morning, I went to StubHub to check out ticket prices for the Barcelona and Real Madrid exhibition game taking place this July in Miami.
The most affordable ticket was $540 for the nosebleed section.
Seats behind the goals started at $900 while midfield tickets averaged $1,500.
Ticketmaster, meantime, had a $350 "standing room only" ticket on the upper deck. There was another $450 ticket for an alcohol-free "supporter's section," also on that same level, which is reserved for Barca and Real fans.
Football organizers are using the US as a cash machine right now - and they did the same thing in the COPA last summer.
Spurs matches won't be as expensive as the fake El Clasico, but I suspect the tickets will be outrageously expensive. I would have rather seen Spurs do another MLS tour, where at least the ticket prices would have been reasonable.
