Id much prefer them miss two games now rather than breaking down and out for two months before Christmas. Those players are too important.
Out of interest, How much did Kompany play in Belgium's games. He was back as a sub for City yesterday?
Stones and Walker both started
Walker looked full of running too. Was up at the LW corner flag at one point. No hangover there.
Was just thinking about Kompany involvement especially with his injury history.
Poch's high press slightly different though I guess.
I dont think even Poch could stop Kane playing first game of the season, he has an award he wants back.
I like what you're saying, it's written into our clubs DNA. Will be interesting to see if Poch has the balls to go through with it. We all know how the media can blow "poor starts" out of proportion. Considering the intensity of the season ahead I'd be worried if we start anyone that has has not had a decent rest. Rather 2 drawn games up front than running out of steam 6 weeks before the season is over. Not a bad idea. Bite the bullet for two games and not risk having long term injuries and fatigue later on. Also a chance to see if the kids can handle Newcastle and Fulham, not exactly top notch teams, though on their day, could cause problems.
Won against Newcastle on opening day of last season. 2-0. Dele got Jon-Jo Shelvy sent off.We never win in August anyway. Might as well not prepare nor travel and suffer losses by forfeit. Levy would like saving the expenses.
