According to that, we had 26 shots to their 5. And we still have a semi-consensus on the match thread that we were "poor". Whatever the fuck that means this week. You couldn't write it as satire, no one would believe it.

I think when we went one down, everyone was thinking "here we go again". We always struggle to break the 'crap' teams down at home and it's always extremely frustrating to watch. So I think that you can forgive what people were saying in the heat of the moment on the match thread, especially in the first half anyway!

it was a game of two halves, first half we played narrow and had possession but no end product. After their goal and second half we played with width and cut them open.

if we're not getting anywhere in games is normally due to us not playing with width.

I thought we played ok and was well on top before the goal, if not to narrow... But now the way we play, I fell that we will always create chances, it's just taking them.

(Best defence & only 2nd in goals scored I think)

Sounds like plan B worked then ;)

Although it was 4-1 it somehow felt like a relief to get over the line. I'm delighted with any win but we weren't all that fluid and I worried at one stage if we'd ever break them down. Now let's beat Leicester, COYS

Thought we played well deserved the victory. Key point that stood out for me? Kane looks absolutely knackered. He needs to be rested. Poor fellow. Hasn't even had time to shave between games!

Respect your opinion - but we were poor today. Sunderland are a really bad squad.

We really have a difficult time breaking down teams that bunker - we are not quick, nor are we technically proficient with the ball in tight spaces. We need more quickness - not pace. And we need players to pick their heads up to see some of the runs that are made.

I thought we played well today but played even better against Leicester
it shows that scoring is our achiles heel if there was any justice we would have won against Leicester and be very near the top of the table
still onwards and upwards still a great season

Arsenal only beat them 3-1 at home and scored 2 late goals. They may be shit. But they are still a threat.

I didn't see the game but am delighted with the result, scoreline and both Chelsea and Leicester dropping points.

Kane and Dier shouldn't even travel to Leicester imo.

Did I see right and Charlie Austin has signed for Southampton for absolutely nothing?

I just don't understand how that isn't worth a bet? Kane looks shattered. 4 Mil!?

He's ready to go, English football ready. I am massively disappointed by that.

We have had multiple leaks, comments and ITK that Pochettino does not want him in our squad. We are no longer signing players unless the manager wants them as long-term members of the team.

I'd rather have Austin than Berahino, myself, based on the limited amount I have seen of the latter, but our manager and our scouting network evidently think otherwise.

It is plain, from at least 6 direct quotes from Pochettino, that unless he can get a striker he wants, he would rather sign no one, even if it has a negative impact on this season. Get used to it, that's his approach.

I'm not as ITK as you Dave, never have been.

I still don't get it but I will heed your advice and get used to it.

We absolutely are technically proficient with the ball in tight spaces. We might not be Barcelona, but we're one of the very best in this league in that respect.

I sometimes think that the team mentally feel that they are so superior in quality to the lower teams, they presume before kick off that the 3 points are in the bag. We were sloppy and casual in the first half, too many passes and not enough drive. Conceding the first goal seemed to wake us up from that malaise. 4-1 was flattering to say the least. The best team won, yes, but my fingers are chomped to the knuckles! The joy of being a Spurs supporter!

They don't make it easy to watch, that's for sure! I wasn't able to relax until it was 3-1.

We do most things right in terms of defending and possession etc. We just sometimes lack penetration in the final third. I don't know what a realistic answer is to this really. A world class playmaker would help!

What would help is only taking one or two touches. Time and again, partly because our players have so much time on the ball and partly because they are not thinking or acting quickly enough, they just took too many touches and dwelled on the ball.
Speed of thought, speed of pass and width are what is needed to break down these defences and add penetration.

a much needed 3 points and hopefully we can get a run going...

TBH, I don't give a s**t how well we played or not. We won and, at this stage of the season, that's all that counts.

i don't care if they had more shots than us, hit the crossbar 20 times, had legitimate goals ruled out, etc. All that I care about is did we get 3 points which, in this case, we did.

for me, I've seen enough this season to believe that we are progressing under Poch. All I want for the rest of the season is 3pts in games and I don't care how we get them
