So AVB was better than Sherwood? So if we had come 2nd but less points, that wouldn't be improvement nor better than previous year?
We finished higher in 5th position, not 6th like the previous year.
Do you feel like it was proper improvement?

Nope...I think I'm fantastic. And you? I mean I've kept fairly quiet and watched how it pans out while you, well...
Denying that poch did anything at Southampton. Some have voiced the opinion that his good season was down to Adkins and in the same breath give him no credit for what Koeman has done. I imagine if Koeman had taken over from Sherwood (where players were queuing to leave or sat rocking in the corner of the dressing room ) his results would have been a lot different.Denying what? That pointwise it was worst season since Ramos days par that season when we actually had CL as "distraction" and even then we got mere 2 points less and were closer to 4th. We leaked as much as relegated Burnley and more than relegated Hull, well there is no denying that. Poch did just enough to win himself a 2nd season, but reckon forks will be out if there is no improvement come next may.
As compared to last season, reckon it had more to do with how we improved (despite getting chunk less points) or how Liverpool and Everton failed miserably?
Then again we were told all at Soton last season was down to Poch and we had season where we fired one manager at halfway through the season and had according some, worst manager on planet on helm for the rest. And we dropped points from that? And managed to let in more goals despite hammerings of last season? So while decline of Everton and Liverpool helped us climb a position and Poch did enough to win another season, it's not much of an achievement, is it?
What Poch achieved prior to us is now irrelevant. We can judge him on what he's done here.
Obviously there are games we should've won and goals we shouldn't have conceded. But, just as you can't only judge by the position in the table, you also have to take into consideration other factors:
So, whilst we achieved more points last season, I and many others are more positive now than this time last year.
- We have the youngest squad in the league with very few experienced heads in the first XI (who's our most experienced outfielder? Adebayor? Soldado?).
- We didn't give Poch the players he wanted in the summer. He had to settle for second or third choices in pretty much every department, so he's been held back in that respect.
- He seems to have generated a very positive atmosphere amongst the squad, and by focusing on youth he's now started to create an identity than we really haven't had since Harry was here.
- We haven't utterly capitulated in the same way that we did under Sherwood and AVB last season. We've lost some games by 3 goals, which isn't great. But we haven't embarrassed ourselves in the same way. That can only be good for morale.

Time will tell but i think that's the peak of what Southampton will achieve too. Will also be surprised if Sherwood sees out next season at villa.
There weren't that big changes on playing side from last season ie. it was young side last season also. As for not getting his top choices, well that just doesn't happen here, not for him, not for previous managers. Again there is little there compared to previous managers. As for third point, debatable and at times on spring we looked lacklustre as ever. As for last point. Well, we still managed to concede more than last season and got less points ie. what's few spankings compared to bigger picture?
But put simply, until someone takes us below 6th or above 4th, they really haven't stood out from the crowd of Spurs managers of the last 10 years in a meaningful way. Sherwood didn't. Pochettino hasn't yet.
Actually to me it seems more like below 6th or above 5th as Harry is only one in PL era to get us 4th and he did it on 2/3 of his full seasons. And that stands out in a meaningful way to me.
Thats not a valid point, we werent a young first 11 because poch wanted to build something, it was because Kaboul, Adebayor, Capoue and Lennon got frozen out(the only experienced players we had), then the likes of Fazio, Soldado, Paulinho and Dembele have been inconsistent. The point is poch cant boast of building a young squad because he hasn't really played any youth players or introduced any new young players and has just taken the players from the last regime and played the guys who were playing better. Had the experienced players played better and the other group not frozen out, would we have a young squad, no unless poch decided to play the likes of Bentaleb and Mason for the long term aspectWhat Poch achieved prior to us is now irrelevant. We can judge him on what he's done here.

Just seen that the SCBC got knocked out of the Europa League last night. Probably a blessing for them really but how crap must you be to not even qualify for the Europa bloody league?

If they'd have reached the group stages they would have been in big trouble in the prem this season. Drat!Just seen that the SCBC got knocked out of the Europa League last night. Probably a blessing for them really but how crap must you be to not even qualify for the Europa bloody league?
