... were a disgrace today.

It's bad enough being outsung by a couple thousand hooray henrys but the constant fucking snideness of all really got on my tits.

Some of the highlights from 2 expert football pundits behind me:

- Adebayor being out on the wing when he should be in the middle and that's the only place a striker should be
- Adebayor being in the middle and appartently doing nothing.
- Adebayor's name being booed when read out because apparently that'll help him. Same fate befell Jenas of course
- Moaning about "what's fucking Defoe got to do to get on" when Carroll came on, despite Defoe coming on in the previous sub
- Asking for Adebayor to be sent off (I think it was supposed to be funny)
- Moaning that Ade couldn't cushion a ball from Bale effectively that was pinged in horizontally, at 70 mph

Ade seemed to be the lightning rod but alas....

- Vertonghen you ****
- Naughton you ****
- Dembele you ****
Yes, even Bale you're shit, £70m having a fucking laugh, etc.

Honestly I paid £50 + transport + day off to watch us lose to Liverpool and it was fantastic day out. Today at home was such a miserable fucking experience. I can't see any first-timers ever wanting to go back. I'm not adverse to the crowd getting their feelings across to the players in the right time, way and manner but this was something else. Just 90 mins of pissy, snidey toxic pissing and moaning.

Well I only had time to listen to the 2nd half on the radio, it kept crossing my mind how quiet the crowd was.
When the team maybe needed the 12th man it was'nt to be found.
Do us supporters really deserve anything when such negativity is emanating from the stands?

not to mention the booing at the final whistle.
Then I went on to hear some morons talking shit on talksport.

I used to be so proud of our support, wheres it gone?

If this is what being on the verge of being successful brings you, frankly I'm not very impressed.

On here is a microcosm of what gets said at the ground by the seemingly increasing "I know better" crowd. I feel so deflated, party because of the result but partly because of how the fans conduct themselves at the ground. Sometimes I think I'm fighting a losing battle when all I hear are people complaining and criticising our players.

Another thing that annoyed me today was the fact we refused to sing any type of song for the first 20 mins and when we did it was for Martin fucking Jol.

I read a comment on here also that criticised us for singing in support of Ade (ha if only - they obviously weren't there). That's the sort of twat we have to deal with and there's hundreds of them.

It's something we can't get away from unfortunately and I almost pine for the days when we were shit because at least we knew we were shit and supported the team properly.

I was at the game and I'm pretty sure the only thing I heard from our fans was "wake up you ****s" about a thousand fucking times.

Actually that's not true. It was a myriad of pathetic insults and abuse that started from the word go.

There's a guy on Twitter who describes himself in his bio as a 'Tottenham Hotspurs' season ticket holder.

When I pointed out his mistake it became quite obvious that he had no idea he had even made one.

I found that quite shocking tbh. For me, 'Tottenham Hotspurs' has always been the reserve of well meaning fools who try to make the effort to talk about a sport which retains no real interest for them, that's fair enough, not everyone's a football fan. But to think that an actual ST holder could be that ill-informed made me think that maybe we have our fair share of glory-hunting gooner/chavski style ****'s too.

I do wonder why adebayor goes out wide so much, 90% of the time he plays the ball back to the midfielder.

Unfortunately there are a large number of football fans who would lag some way behind a baboon in an intelligence test. These people are usually wholly inadequate specemins with no control over their own lives whose only form of release is to vent at others with no fear of retaliation.

Sadly we have some of these at Spurs. My sympathy for your miserable afternoon having to endure these pathetic wastes of space.

because our midfield didnt possess any creativity until Carroll came on, going wide is the only place he would receive a pass.
as well as the fact that not many on our team are that intelligent of the ball, last season he would go wide people like VDV and bale or lennon would then make a run in to the space created by ade and then when ade gave it to a midfielder he would then be in a better position then they are now which then led for ade to go back the middle playing off midfield

The Premier League in general doesn't get the fans it deserves. But you get moaners at every ground and sadly they seem to increase in number as the club increases in success. Can be an off putting experience, and to be honest, although it makes you wonder if it's worth spending that much to see Tottenham when surrounded by these people, you also have to wonder why they spend their money to get pissed off for 90 minutes.

The fans at whl are terrible. For me it is normally one of the worst atmospheres in the league for overall negativity. If things aren't going how they expect then the fans get on the players back and start to complain.

They groan at every misplaced pass, every missed effort on goal and even when the players just keep possession. It's abysmal to be honest and it doesnt help the team. Going into this game we knew City had dropped points and a win would put us right up behind them in 2nd. There was no noise or passion from what I could hear. Just 30,000 people sat waiting for spurs to win, because they believe we should just walk every game, which is ridiculous.

Every game we play is now HUGE and the fans have to go into it with a positive attitude and support the team.

Adebayor and Defoe have been in horrible form this year but I really believe our midfield is failing them. We have zero creativity coming through the middle at times and Bale does not have the intelligence of a vdv or modric to slide passes through defences. Adebayor goes wide to try and move defenders about and actually find some space. Imo Bale has shown that when he plays in the middle he is very reluctant to drift to the left or the right and he just waits for an opportunity to run at the defence. If teams do what Fulham and Liverpool have done and prevent this space then I just don't believe Bale has the ability to do this despite the abilities he clearly does have. Bale needs to get back out wide when the central position isnt working

Its not a new thing, I've been going to Tottenham games since I was a very young kid in 1988 and even then one of my first memories is of the fans around me complaining and calling the players shit whenever something went wrong

The first game I ever went to was still standing room only in the Park Lane end and I was on my dad and granddad's shoulders throughout the game, Terry Fenwick missed a penalty right in front of us as we drew 0-0 with Luton Town f'ing this and f'ing that, you're shit Fenwick and the like were my over riding memories of my first game (as a 6 year old)

So I don't think its a new thing for Spurs fans, or probably football fans in general to moan and complain during matches

I agree that more success leads to more pressure and that more pressure means more tense fans, especially at his part of the season. I've never known our fans to get on our players backs so quickly as this season though. I don't go back as far as you though.

You all realise that these negative comments just come from people that can't hide their own nerves and frustrations in these situations. Supporters at the lane are no different to people watching the tv.

For those of you at home can you honestly say you have never said anything negative at your tv! It's the same emotions - In case you need an example take the Liverpool game - I'm sure there was 1 or 2 then.

I have never seen the point in getting on the teams or a players back. Completely pointless.

I don't even boo the opposition. It's a waste of energy. When at a game you should only focus on supporting Tottenham and those in the shirt.

Talk about the issues you have with players and management decisions after.

I have an uncle who is in his 90's and up until 2005 had rarely missed a home game in 60 years. He never has a good word to say about his fellow Spurs fans in his words "They are fickle moaning bastards and always have been"

So it is nothing completely new. I think it has got has got worse in the last few years. I have had many a game ruined by those moaning around me and often marvel at these so called experts complete lack of knowledge.

I think it actually got better for a long while, under Jol and even under Harry but it has tailed off. It has gone back to thinking we are a big club and not getting excited unless it is Real Madrid in the CL or something.

Yesterday the team really needed a lift. Frequently we have managed that from around 70 minutes and helped them lift the tempo but yesterday nothing. Instead we moan about the team being complacent in their attitude against Fulham and other non-glamours teams but do the same thing ourselves.

Fed up with moaning/booing if Defoe doesn't come on.

Fed up with fans abusing AVB and the players.

Fed up with groans if any player misplaces a pass.
