Dear poster. I don't want the likes of you running the club. Best. Sensei
I don't think any manager could have helped us finish any higher in the last two seasons.
The problem is we haven't strengthened the team while City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool have spent FORTUNES.
Change the manager if u like but we'll have the same problems. Until Levy changes the way he does transfer deals we'll always be on the fringes of the top 4.
Online communities are amazing. I have a habit of assuming everyone I'm reading/talking with is the same age, then something comes along that shatters the illusion. Like this letter.
Usually a big fan Legend10, but your letter has a recurring problem of setting up a decent, well-worded argument, then gives way to low-rent ranting. See below - bold good and structured, italics losing the plot.
"There is no other Premiership manger that I'm aware of and no manager in our clubs great history who seeks or has sought so much media attention, I, and others I'm sure find it completely unacceptable. There's nothing worse than picking up a paper or turning on the radio or tv and being subjected to the same old drone of we can't compete, we can't make the top 4, 2 bloody points from 8 games when I arrived and so on."
Unfortunately there are too many of the latter points for any businessman of any note to take this seriously. If, in fact, they ever would. But good to get these things off our chests. There's a good point in here somewhere, lost in slang that's fine for a message board, but not an official letter.
Sums it up nicely. There's an innate problem with this.
Obviously, in reality, Redknapp's many public utterances have been irrelevant and where's he's been misrepresented the Club will probably already know about it and have opinions - although they're probably becoming aware that the concept that Redknapp is 'damaging' has become a rather destructive meme - when a madman thinks he's on fire, sometimes the only thing to do is to throw water on him.
Precisely. But also, Levy was there at the meeting with Modric, he's kind of like a central player in the whole thing. He knows how things are actually going down. He probably has a good idea of who is acting against the club's interests and who's causing havoc. If there's anyone who can gauge the real effects of Redknapp's public statements it's him.
I agree that there is an embarassing lack of cohesion in the way that our transfer dealings are presented publicly, and Harry constantly making it clear that he doesn't know what is going on or where we are on a particular player is plain stupid - why can't he just say "we are working on it" or something like that. I agree that his comments on Modric have been unnecessary and just added to the impression of lack of communication. I also find his statements on Crouch's contributions incomprehensible.
But to portray the problem as all down to Redknapp in such a black and white way and that Levy is doing everything well is not balanced. Levy and the Board should be given credit for the fact that we are in a stable financial position and don't have the worries that Everton, for example, have . But Levy's approach to negotiations is a problem. He seems more motivated by out-negotiating the other party than securing the right players to keep moving the club forwards, even if we have to pay a little more than we want to (not irresponsible amounts). We have all seen the eleventh hour approach over the last few years. If it is true that we had Suarez more or less tied up and then left it "to brew" until later to improve terms during the last January window is true, that is a prime example of wrong priorities. Everything is so protracted and there is a trail of bad blood created over the last few years with other clubs that is also not condusive to getting the right players in. There is also the argumnet that Levy should be keeping Redknapp up to date with where we are with transfer negotiations - either Redknapp knows more than he implies or there is a communcation problem that is not just down to him.
It may well be time to think about who is the right manager to take us forward - but any new manager will only address part of the problem and they could find themselves equally frustrated at how constrained they are in getting the players they want by Levy's approach.

Well wrote Kevin and a lot of what you say is balanced and correct.
Also the OP had the wrong email address for Daniel and it will go into the spam filter
Dear Daniel,
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

No wonder Harry said the squad was distracted. Half of them don't know if they are going to still be here tmw.
He's done this to haggle over tiny sums.
you wasted your time.
boring boring boring.
You are asuming that I think there is something wromg with our transfer policy or activity which actually I don't.
The complaint I have is about Redknapp's media whoring, not transfers or anything else!
