Should we call our academy strikers to the first team?

The one thing we're really lacking at youth level is strikers funnily enough. Bit short on CB's too.

Think we're quite well supplemented with defenders at youth level. Strikers I agree with. Tbh I don't think it would be bad experience when we've got nothing left to play for to have Harrison on the bench. And give a run out for experience, but while we are still in a top 4 race no way. He hasn't even played u21s yet I don't think

We're pretty loaded at centre back, actually.

Cameron Carter Vickers and Christian Maghoma in the U18's. And, of the U21's, we have Milos Veljokovic and Dominic Ball out on loan. Veljkovic, especially, could do a job for us right now if needed (and if he wasn't on loan and injured !).

Apart from Veljokovic I don't think any of them are anywhere near to being able to step up for the first team TBH.

Tbf I don't think CCV would let himself down now, though I agree Ball and Veljkovic are probably ahead of him.

Would rather we brought our academy defenders ( possibly right down to under 8's ) into this side!

Could do with two centre halves and two full backs

I disagree, we have Ball, Veljkovic, CCV and though probably about as close to the first team as the next striker, Maghoma.

@Bobbins

I don't think you can say that we are weak at CB considering that we have:
Ball who has done very well for our U21's and looked assured playing there matching Milos performances at times
Milos did well for Middlesborough in his cameos getting praise from Karanke and shows that Poch trust him enough to send him on loan to a manager who he is very close with and was top of the championship
CCV outperforming Khumulo, a international CB who played at the world cup and been capped at U23 level at the age of 16, I never heard of this happening before at youth level let alone doing well, dominated a more experienced southampton attack which included Gallagher
Maghoma - would of been highly talked about had we not got CCV but is a good prospect

Whereas striker situation we have
Coulthirst - Not doing bad but not doing as well as he should, needs to get back on track
Akindayini - Good goalscorer but needs to step up
Harrison - Doing alright but isn't playing as much as he should
Loft - Scoring but inconsistent
Sterling - he is the one out of the lot progressing at the rate of making it as a future first team player

That might be true, but it doesn't mean I don't think it's the right decision. I think Adebayor is a valuable resource and that we should be using him, at least until we get the chance to improve our options in the summer.
It doesnt matter what Ade could do, because in the end he will infect the team, he is a virus, its best to just keep him away
