You're a very bitter man aren't you.
I learnt it all from you.

I supported England in World Cup 90 in Italy. Since then I haven`t found much pleasure in watching England (with a few exceptions). If we think about the size of your country, your football league, your general physics as average western europeans with also lots of muscular afro-british citizens, your sports fascilities etc., there`s no logical reason why England have a poor team compared to Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium or Spain.
Especially compared to Holland and Belgium it`s a mystery why you don`t achieve more on the pitch with that players and team.
But you said get the best manager we can. That ain't Hiddink, not by a long way. Didn't he play a large part in the dutch failing to get out of their group?
The only English candidate with any real (footballing) credibility is Hoddle, but that's very unlikely, that would mean the FA actually showing some sense. If we go English, which IIRC is how the FA prefer to roll, then our next manager is probably going to be someone very underwhelming. Fat Sam, Pardew, someone like that.
Personally i'd go with Hoddle with Southgate alongside him with a view to him taking over in four years.

You genuinely have a problem with the Celtic nations though (and particularly the Welsh) I feel sorry for you. I just have a sporting hatred for the English rugby team for what they represent.
Also, think it's mildly offensive to say home nation is a misnomer when many Scots, Welsh and Irish gave their lives for us and the rest of the U.K. During the wars. But hey, you stay classy mate.
what does the english rugby team represent? they just beat the wallabies in the most amasing test series ive ever seen.
Does she know what that word means?!

Do I? I'm not aware of that. Ive worked with great people from across the UK, especially from Wales (in a govt department) , believe it or not. And from Scotland too.
There are many tensions - some big, some less so - at the heart of the UK, I think. If I choose not to support the other British nations at sporting events, then it's hardly uncommon. Look at the level of support for England in Scotland, or your hatred of English rugby and your disdain for its fans. I don't hate anyone btw and I'm not sure why you would be bothered that I don't much care how Wales get on at football. I suspect that there would be some people who would feel patronised and irritated if i were to get behind Wales as an Englishman.
People are free to move around the UK and that's fine by me. We've all added a lot to each other in our long shared histories. I have a Scottish surname and i dare say at least some of my family came from there at some point. So there you are. I'm quite British in many ways, just not when it comes to sport. Like lots of people from all over Britain.
Please no Southgate. He is another Stuart Pearce or Kevin Keegan. Hoddle would be great and has done it before at the World Cup.It won't be Hoddle (as much as I agree that would make sense).
It'll be Southgate who is woefully under qualified and will no doubt be cast on the scrap heap in 2 or 4 years time.
Hiddink for me, knows the PL and isn't afraid of being parachuted into a shit storm (see Chelsea x 2).
We just got beaten by a country that does not have any grass !!
He looked like a defeated man after the game. Obviously he was a defeated man but he didn't really looked surprised.Hodgson's name is going to go down in infamy I think. If he takes another club job in England i'll be surprised, he'd be roundly booed and abused pretty much every game. I think he's finished which I guess isn't a hard conclusion to reach.
Hoddle, yes; Southgate f**k no. Awful awful awful. Please no Southgate. He is another Stuart Pearce or Kevin Keegan. Hoddle would be great and has done it before at the World Cup.
