Found this - nothing to do with Spurs.... but somehow it feels like us. A good read if you want to read about other fans suffering for once :)

Video version to add some context to this - I think it tops the Aguero moment

Even though this was nothing to do with Spurs, watching it felt so Spursy that I felt like it had just happened to us and now I'm upset.

Don’t go getting sympathetic with Schalke. They are nothing like us. Of all the clubs in Germany, they were the closest to the Nazi regime, several team members wore the Reichsadler: https://thesefootballtimes.co/2018/...ip-between-schalkes-glory-days-and-the-nazis/

These days, the fans still sing songs which would make our ode to Sol Judas sound tame. I’ve been in a bar where Schalke fans were singing “seig heil” with matching arms raised. They were ejected, but they are fairly representative of the fans of that horrible club.

Last game in that stadium. How fucking grim that must have been.

Saw the England vs Portugal World Cup QF in the new stadium in 2006. Fucking terrible atmosphere that day. Horrible experience.

Thanks for the link - it's an interesting read. I noticed it also flagged up Werder Bremen, 1860 Munich and VfB Stuttgart - I'd not thought about football in 1930s Germany before, but I suppose it's not that surprising.

If you get a chance, visit the DFB Fußball Museum in Dortmund. There’s an excellent exhibition on the Nazi period and the plight of Jewish footballers. On a lighter note, there is also a fun piece where you can view Geoff Hursts “goal” in 1966 and vote for whether it should have been allowed ?

So apparently they're one of the biggest clubs in the world, by membership and the second biggest in Germany, generally speaking.

But, man, have their league finishes been all over the place.

And we think our club could be run better!
