Could somebody remind me of the rules re young players? Do City hold his registration until he is sold like with any other footballer?

His obvious desire to join Spurs is there for all to see, although I've never seen him play, he must be brilliant given his England youth career.

A real coup for us and the signing we've all wanted. COYS.

I don't think he'll get any promise of first team football with us. He'd have to earn his place like everybody else.

Oi nutter, imagine your stuck in The City youth team and you hear Spurs want you. He has done what any of us would have done.

If Marcus Edwards did that to force a move to Chelsea, you'd find it perfectly acceptable I take it?

It's not about a promise. Just how many good players in similar positions at Spurs in comparison with MC

That's true, but it must be demotivating to be a promising youngster at a club whose whole culture is based on buying players at whatever price to fill the available squad places. Players like this (and Dele A before him) see Spurs as one of the few top clubs that are still prepared to give good home-grown youngsters a shout.

So like Marcus Edwards then? Where we buy guaranteed talent like N'koudou and Sissoko to keep him out the team? Hmm. If the story is anywhere near true, I agree with above, we're not guaranteeing first team football to a 17 year old.

Dele is a complete outlier. Can people stop using him as an example. He's not representative of anything. He's a one off

If he's trying to force a move at 17 then he's not a fit for us I'm afraid.

2 ways of looking at it, he's 17 and has seen City bring no youth players through of note since the oil flowed. Or he wants money? Who knows.

I doubt we would pay him much more than he is on, so maybe he wants to play and sees Poch as a guy who could improve him.

Whether Spurs should buy him or not should depend on his motive and reason for leaving ManC.
If he wana leave ManC due to football reasons only, then I would not mind Spurs getting him. If he wana get more money, then drop the interest. Simple as that.

You have to consider homesickness or other personal reasons why he wants to come back to London. We have no idea what's inside his head as a human being, He could be sick and tired of Manchester, who knows?

Yet our fans are all clamouring to buy new players rather than wanting to promote the likes of edwards, ccv, onomah and kwp.

There are no guarantees in professional football, but the probability of a young player being given a chance at Spurs has to be far better than at City.
As far as Dele was concerned, (IIRC) Liverpoool had the opportunity to beat us to his signing, but he felt more confident that he'd be given an early chance to prove himself at Spurs. By the same token, he could easily have ended up as a slightly older version of John Bostock or Jonathan Blondel etc., i.e. a promising young player with ideas above his station, but, in Dele's case, he stepped up when the challenge was offered to him. If Sancho just wants to move clubs to get the opportunity to put his abilities to the ultimate test, that's good enough for me.
