Showed his pace and strength, Bellingham had no chance against him

Had a positive impact even though they lost, brought a lot of energy to the Hoffenheim side. I think Bundesliga football will help him develop a lot

Showed a few nice touches, some good pace and put a pretty dangerous cross in at one point.

Great to hear, hope he can build on it. This feels like such a critical loan for his career development.

Just noticed he got the start for Hoffenheim at LB in their Europa League game and it’s still on my DAZN (the watching service we have in Canada) so I’ll watch the game either tonight or tomorrow to report how he did.

From a Hoffenheim fan on a forum:
Besonders gut hat mir der Neue, Ryan Sessegnon, gefallen. Seine Spielweise erinnert mich ein wenig an Coman. Der wird noch durchstarten !

I especially liked the new guy, Ryan Sessegnon. The way he plays reminds me a little of Coman. It will still take off!

Doesn’t sound like he did anything special but still great for him to be getting regular minutes. Even if he has an up and down season he’ll come back ready to contribute.

Currently trying to watch the match, only 20 minutes in and it is drab as hell. Both teams playing defensively deep and compact and both tending to just foul each other when the ball is progressed through midfield and both tending to favour long balls so far.

Sessegnon hasn't done much so far but he's looked very solid defensively when called upon. Defended a 1v1 superbly and wriggled out of a close contest on the sideline with two more players converging on him to put a nice pass into a teammate in space in the midfield.

I think he's practicing his defensive game. He offerd almost nothing going forward but it looked deliberate. I do think he should be working on his attacking game too but he certainly isn't letting himself down

for JM I think he needs to be a defender first. That seems to me to be a lot about concentration, consistency and good judgment. Hopefully that will then give him a level of development as well as confidence that will fuel his attacking skills. I liked Sessegnon from the first time I saw him play and really hope he makes it at the top level.

FB should be one of the easier positions to master. Defending as a FB is relatively one dimensional the attacking part is the hardest part to master.

Played the whole match as a wing back in a 352 as Hoffenheim battered Gent away last night.

  • 2/3 dribbles were successful. (2nd most successful and 2nd most attempted behind the rwb on 3/5).
  • No tackles or interceptions.
  • 2 clearances.
  • 1 block.
  • 1 offside.
  • 2 fouls committed.
  • 48 touches (3rd fewest outfield player, with the rwb s as 4th fewest).
  • 3 losses of possession, same as the rwb.
  • 2 shots, both on target. One towards the far post from the left, one down the middle from central, edge of the area

didn't watch but general gist seems to be:

- started at lwb
- moved to lcb after 30 mins due to a cb going off injured
- moved to lb in a flat four after 60 mins when the lwb got sent off
- didn't play particularly well in any position
