Sky reporter Michael Bridge has suggested that he was told that Cristian Romero would have left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer had Antonio Conte ended up staying at the club.

Bridge was speaking on the Last Word On Spurs podcast as he suggested that the centre-back and the Italian never really clicked during their time together in North London.

so a reporter has suggested the he was told, on a podcast... suggested...

This feels a lot like he heard it from a dude that the window cleaner's ex used to go to school with's brother's nan, who read it on the clipboard belonging to a courier who stopped at their hairdressers looking for directions.

Seems odd, it's a totally believable story, just say it as fact and go about your day with credibility, captain vague!

I wonder what’ll become of Conte. There’s not been a sniff of him getting another job.

Enjoying Levy's money.
Yeah, but they usually get snapped up relatively quickly. Especially someone with his record of success. There were big jobs available this summer too.

I do wonder if clubs are starting to see him as too much of a risk now. He’s too explosive and gets toxic pretty quick when things aren’t going his way.

I'm being a bit sarcastic here. No clue what his next plans are. Probably some Italian club that is desperate.

I got the impression he wasn't a well man. Hopefully just enjoying life nowhere near football. He got far too wound up by it.

I think we all did TBF.

It would've been the single greatest reverse surprise happy birthday ever.

Conte come's into the stadium on a match day and everyone is gone (even the leeches at Sky...)

Not possible. I thought everyone loved Conte?

See, even defenders want to play football!

I found the use of would've could've had've so frustrating. It's like an article quoting some barrow boy on a market stall.
