Lamela’s performance was so good tonight, he was unplayable at times. My motm
Lamela has been the agent of chaos that Jose said in his last few games - tonight, he elevated himself to Modric level,
I’m not sure? These reflections are example of over the top comments. Often Lamela make the wrong choice. If the team is to progress, he needs to release the ball and bring others into the game. I like him and he adds energy, drives us forward and gets stuck in but needs to get that head up and be aware of what’s around him. It’s ok doing this coming on last 20 mins but not from the start. We have the players just not playing as a team, He needs to play his part.

Dele 100%. It was classic Dele! Audacity and ability. Really impressed. I have to temper a little bit due to the quality of the opposition but very pleasing to see him play like that. Exciting times if he can continue this way

The football was better. I have noticed the change of play from Everton defeat. Thought Dele Lamela Sissoko where very good.

Dele obviously. Fabulous goal and 2 assists but what I liked most was his work rate, finding space, demanding the ball, tracking back, tackling and generally stepping up when given his chance. Great to see him with his swagger back and a smile on his face.

If that's based on last night's game (and I'm assuming it isn't) then I'd argue you've made an over the top comment yourself.

Watching the match, I don't believe he made any wrong decisions last night.

Looking at the stats, Lamela had the highest passing accuracy, including our subs (94%) and attempted 9 dribbles (succeeded with 7).

It was on last nights game and others.
I agree that Lamella had a good game but did not, in key moments, release the ball at the correct time. Stats may reflect his passing but docent reflect when?

Im a big fan of lamella but it frustrates me when the ball needs to move. Players are becoming static because players are thinking individually and this reflects on players as Lamella who can be influancial. He that important to us at the moment, its got to be better.

Hmmm... interesting take, but I cannot agree with that assessment. I would agree that at times, he holds onto the ball longer than he should but that clearly hasn't been a problem of late. It's also rare to see a player put in that level of intensity over extended periods of the game, where a lot of players would get knackered - and fatigue isn't something I'd ever attribute to Lamela from what I've seen. His passing accuracy has been off the charts, as well as balls won, running at defenders and taking a few shots in the process - those are traits of a top notch striker.

Dier makes two huge mistakes today. All out at sea for one ball over the top. That could have been given as a red card foul. And minutes later he loses his man for a cross that if that is Ashley Barnes on the weekend it’s a goal. He needs to be moved to a utility sub. Play Rodon instead.

Agreed... him yelling at Tanganga over his own mistake didn't help!

Yes, it would be nice if people stopped shitting on Lamela. The guy is a fighter and he's in great form right now at moment we badly need him to be. Some appreciation of that is necessary.

Thing with Dele is that you cannot restrict him to any specific pattern of play...he needs the freedom to do individual things, not all the time obviously but he has to have the licence to try something special when he feels it right

Can you name one occasion when that happened in yesterday's match, please? I can't recall any moment when he should have released it but chose not to.

First off... don't patronize me. If you can't muster the ability to be respectful, than keep your opinion to yourself. I've got no time for that crap.

Secondly, I was referring to this season in general. Sorry if I wasn't clearer about that. My views on Lamela has always been generally positive over the years. And like you, I lament his struggles with injuries.

This season, like a lot of our players, he has had some very good games and some not very good games. But off the top of my head I was wondering out loud if he has done better against these types of teams.

We are also in agreement that if firing on all cylinders he is a plus for our team, not a detriment.

Apologies for not being more precise in my language.

And just for the record... I'd like to think I have somewhat of an idea of what I'll talking about. At least 22% of the time.

It would seem I'm having a 78% day. ?
Points and clarification taken. I too could have worded my response better as patronizing you was not my intent. Looking at both responsive posts, we seem to be singing from the same Lamela hymnal!

I agree, but others think Tanganga was at fault, plus he was subbed afterwards and was not picked for this game.

If this was the b team, then perhaps Tanganga will be back for burnley, and Dier can have a rest for a few games.
