Lamela - MOTM. Even against Chelsea, you could see his introduction led to more urgent play and actual build up play. Right now, he deserves a starting spot.

Lamela's performance today (and particularly that slalom run in the second half followed by a tame shot that went harmlessly wide) summed up his spurs career for me....plenty of skill and promise but little end product and he will always let you down when the chance to score or play someone else in at a crucial time presents itself

Team gets MOM today. We played cohesively as a unit. Something we haven’t been doing for the last few weeks. That means harmonized movement on and off the ball and consistently demonstrating intent. Mindset was much, much better today.

What are you on about?

Taking a positive performance and twisting it to, “Will always let you down.”

Jesus Christ.

Has there ever been any doubt about Lamela's energy & commitment in a game?

His problem is his end product rarely matched what I think is his undoubted ability. He has a great left foot, he can dribble & he's no slouch, but too often he gets into great positions & fails to deliver end product, plus he gets injured too often. The equaliser he scored a season or two ago at MCity away was a thing to quality, but they're to few & far between.

Maybe if he can stay fit & play more often he'll prove to be the player we thought we brought way back when & at 28 he should be in his prime with 2 or 3 years left as a top player. I hope he uses them to prove what a really good player he is & that left foot provides us with the quality it has on many, many occasions.

I felt that his run and pass for the goal was fantastic, but Lucas' ball retention and passing were off on many occasions. He did ok, but I didn't think he was as good as some of the comments suggest. Lamela MOTM for me.

West Brom were dreadful and are as dead as a dodo. I'm not sure we learn a lot positive or negative from that match. Three points though gratefully received.

Glad Lamela put in a performance and Kane is just a joy to watch.

Lucas played well but that doesn't mean he's a good player again.

Disagree. They are pretty well drilled defensively. And we suck at breaking teams down who even have a small semblance of defensive cohesion. We stuck at it today by consistently moving and challenging for second balls with much more agresssion and intent.

That said... West Brom were pretty terrible going forward. Agree with that. Yet, we still nearly let them score one or two, if not for one great save and some disallowed goals for offside. And this was based on only four slightly dangerous attacks. That is the ugly flip side of our game when Jose encourages all out attack. Different day, they score the first goal and we struggle to break them down.

Lamela- seem to make the difference as he did same coming on against Chelsea-he drives us forward. He bites at players ankles and gets in there faces. He must bet annoying to the opposition-he seem possessed at times. Rest of the team take note.

I've given MotM to Coco. He added the same energy and urgency that he always brings, and as he did at the start of the season, but also looked to release the ball earlier than he sometimes does. His movement was essential to us creating in the final third - a stark contrast to the frustrating congestion of static attacking players that we've seen all too often lately, even before Kane's injury.

Moura added some much needed thrust and the times he got caught in possession were outweighed by what he created. There were a couple of occasions where he almost split through the CBs and into a one-on-one situation - on another day he could have been brought down for a penalty or have just slipped through for a tap in.

Hojbjerg once again made salty Southampton fans look stupid for criticising his passing ability. I much prefer the balance of our midfield with him and Ndombele. Both had far more movement and options ahead of them than if Sissoko had been playing.

Despite being less clinical than we've come to expect, Kane showed how important he is to the team's shape and morale. Clearly a very important performance, even though fairly average by his standards.

All of the above contributed to Son being able to perform again.

I thought we defended very well overall. I've seen a few critical comments about Sanchez's performance, yet he repeatedly played Diagne offside to perfection (for the first-half header Lloris saved plus the two occasions the ball ended up in the back of the net).

I was also pleased to see a decent performance from Aurier to put the Liverpool row to bed.

Sanchez gets a rough hand most times from many - rightly in some instants completely wrong in much more, I thought he was assured.

I wholeheartedly still think he is our best defender when partner in the right combination but that's another story for another time.

I am still not happy with our overall mentality when it comes to football - Mourinho is stubborn and overly negative.
